I'm aware I have a low-wisdom mind, but don't know how to change it

No, no it’s not. I just talked to my psychiatrist about this. My spouse is having issues, and the Dr pointed out that my role should be loving support NOT being his psychologist.

@Velocity Another way of describing your situation might be to call the gap a “common sense filter”. This can be very, very hard to find. My suggestion would be to try to focus on slowing down impulsive decisions. Take a beat (or many) and ponder things. I even do things like put an item in an online shopping cart and leave it there a day or two. Practice telling other people that you’ll get back to them, or that it’s on your to-do list, but don’t commit beyond that. I often feel that others are pressuring me more than they really are. It’s ok to protect yourself and make some rules about taking your sweet time.

Take care (and take your time).

Another thought is to play boardgames.

There are a lot of boardgames out there, these days, and they all force you to work on certain key skills - math, opportunism, artistic ability, social deduction, etc.

Find the ones that seem on-point, see which you’re the poorest at among those, and focus on getting better at them.

I have that! A best friend, who’ll occasionally give me tough advice.

Seriously, low-wisdom, high-impulse, a-bit-on-the-spectrum, ADD, immature guys need someone who’ll say “Bad idea!” or “No, do NOT do that.” Run every idea you have past someone else… for me it’s my wife, that best friend, or The Guys At The Bar.

You need to order a custom-made Magic 8 Ball, with prescient answers. When you have a decision to make, ask the 8 Ball. Then, heed the ball’s advice.

For Example:

Velocity: Magic 8 Ball, should I…[wacky idea]
Magic 8 Ball: Are you nuts? Of course not!

Velocity: Magic 8 Ball, can I…[wacky idea]
Magic 8 Ball: You can, if you want to die decrepit and lonely.

Velocity: Magic 8 Ball, will I…[wacky idea]
Magic 8 Ball: As I see it, not in this lifetime…or the next.

Velocity: Magic 8 Ball is [wacky idea] a smart thing to do?
Magic 8 Ball: The stars say this isn’t even a smart thing for a chimpanzee to do.

…well, you get the idea.
