“Glitch. Sorry” here in this thread. It’s not like it was inconvenient for anyone but them, after all.
If this was my business, I’d expect a little more, maybe that’s just me though.

Then I realized that I don’t even usually sign in from my phone, just read, and thought, “boy, they are really cracking down.”

We posted about it in the sticky thread and the thread announcing that I’m now an administrator since people were already discussing it there. This thread was started after that and I said in post #2 that everyone was blocked temporarily. We apologize for failing to consider the reading habits of elbows. We’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened this morning. It goes without saying that it was unintentional and we’re sorry about the inconvenience. The staff didn’t enjoy being locked out of the board and I’m sure nobody else enjoyed it, either. When we figure out what happened, we’ll emphatically not do that again.

Everybody was blocked – including the staff.
I wasn’t back on the board the instant things got corrected – if you really want to know I was answering the hundreds of emails I was receiving asking for information/asking to be reinstated/asking “what did I do to get banned?”
I did make an announcement as quickly as I could.
If that is not sufficient for you I am truly sorry.
Thanks guys for fixing it up spiffy quick - it was a bit WTF because I couldn’t access the board while banned. I grabbed the sticky out of the Google cache to see what to do.
I didn’t realise being banned meant you couldn’t even read the board.
What got me is I logged on this morning, was able to scan the threads, and then refreshed, and got the message that I was banned. Meanwhile, it was showing that I had a unread Private Message. I was thinking Uh oh, what did I do, and TPTB PMed me to do something which I didn’t do. And then they got pissed off. Oh well, all’s well that ends well. (And the PM was nothing to do with the moderators.)
What happened was that (somehow) everyone’s IP address was banned. We don’t know why this happened. When your IP address is banned, you can’t access the board.
You got off lucky-my tv remote quit working and my toilet wouldn’t flush!
The board is still acting wonky in Firefox on my older work PC. I have to click everything twice and it keeps hanging on me…

Is there some reason your post no 2, in this thread, couldn’t contain, ‘Sorry for the inconvenience’? It’s four little words, after all.
Or is it just better to slam the person who points out your oversight?
No one likes to be reminded when they forget to say please, but the correct response is to suck it up and say, “you’re right, I should have said please.”, not slam the person who points out your lack of common courtesy.
