I'm Buying Donuts!

Congrats: Choco long johns for me, please.

Way to go Diane!

BTW, I like the old-fashioneds.

“Let none presume to wear an undeserved dignity.
O, that estates, degrees and offices
Were not derived corruptly, and that clear honour
Were purchased by the merit of the wearer!”
–The Merchant of Venice, Act 2, Scene ix

It is heartening to know that these sentiments occasionally DO come true.

Diane,

Congratulations on your promotion! I know you deserved it! I can tell by your posts describing your work (that regrettable pit thread) that your rewards are often “only” knowing you made a difference in someone’s life. It’s nice to know that sometimes, though not often enough, good things DO happen to good people.

I’d like to take this moment to thank you for being so kind to me. You were one of the first two AOL veteran SDMBers to make me feel comfortable and welcome here (Michi was the other). I’ve never forgotten that, can’t thank you enough for doing that.

No donuts for me. The friendship of a beautiful lady (inner AND outer beauty) is reward enough:

“The hand that hath made you fair hath made you good:
the goodness that is cheap in beauty makes beauty
brief in goodness; but grace, being the soul of your complexion,
shall keep the body of it ever fair.”
–Measure for Measure, Act 3, Scene i

Congratulations, Diane! I’m glad there’s people like you working for veterans.

Well thanks everyone! (A big hug for you DRY :::Swoon::: )

As for the promotion, same position, a lot more duties, and a chunkier paycheck. Too bad the kiddies will nickle and dime me to the point of not noticing a bigger bank balance :). It does feel good to know that the boss is impressed enough with my work to put me in for this promotion, feels even better than the moola. Okay, maybe not as good as the money, but almost.

Unclebeer did help me make the donuts and said that each one was made with love and care. He stayed up all night and put everything thing he had into making them. He said to please excuse any loose hairs. :::snicker:::

Nuthin’ says lovin’ like sumthin’ from the oven.
Sorry - It’s too early in the morning for me to be awake and at the computer.

Congratulations Diane!

Could you pass me a strawberry jelly donut please?

Congratulations, Diane!

The work you do is vital, and I am sure you sometimes feel that people don’t recognize that.

Those of you helping the brave men and women who served our country are unsung heroes, and I salute you.

“21 champagne cork salute”

Enjoy!
