I'm Craving a Tall Glass of MMP

I mixed up a batch of snickerdoodles and put them in the fridge. Then I mixed up a batch of oatmeal cookies and just finished baking them. I managed to burn one pan so badly I have to soak the pan to get them off - I hope they’ll come off… :frowning: So much for Baker’s Secret!

After I take a breather and clean all the pans and pack up the oatmeal cookies, I’ll bake the batch of chocolate chip. Then I quit. Daughter is coming over tomorrow and we’ll do at least 3 batches then. I’ll do the ginger snaps one night this week.

**FCD **is in bed - he got up and ate, then mostly crashed all morning, and now he’s crashed away from the TV. Poor thing - he really is a mess. It hurts to hear him cough - whatever he’s go has settled in his chest. :frowning: And of course, while he was napping and I was baking, the dog peed on the carpet. Did I happen to mention that I didn’t want a dog? When we have animals, I always end up taking care of them. Yep…

I’ll take my pity party elsewhere. Sorry…

Speaking of ice cream, one time my sister and I had a sleepover at our friend’s house. When we woke up, there were no grownups around, so we decided to have vanilla ice cream for breakfast. I whipped my ice cream around in my bowl with my spoon. My sister and friend did the same with their ice cream. I commented, “It looks like whipped cream.”
At that moment, my friend’s older sister walked into the room. She had heard me say something about whipped cream. She got really angry, because she thought that my friend and sister and I were actually eating whipped cream for breakfast! We insisted it was just ice cream, but my friend’s sister thought we were lying. She checked the whipped cream package, and didn’t quite understand why it was unopened.

I just had the most vile frozen dinner. Ugh. No, I don’t know why I ate it. Fortunately I’m about to make up for it with a delightful double chocolate frappe (NO coffee, of course).

Satellite 9 in downtown Sandy Hook.

This place looks more like a movie set than a real town - it’s too perfect. Except for all the freaking media.

Google Maps shot of town. I am parked right at the 34 just right of the Sandy Hook Diner.

The town is filled with visitors giving well wishes. Not a sight I wanted to see.

Afternoon!

I am officially on vacation and sat at the airport waiting to board for Dallas then from there to London then there to Newcastle. Long day ahead of me but not as long as the next few will be for you gigity. Sounds like you are the best person for the job.

Fcm I always tell mr ems that I will make LibbyCat pee on his pillow if I end up doing all the care taking

Clock on my iPad say 12.01 that means I can stop pretending I have restraint and have my first vacation cocktail

Today it is raining and a high predicted of 50. Sounds warm but it isn’t. I’m on feeding duty at the barn tonight so I have to go out. Otherwise I would stay home and putter. I’m done with Christmas cards and my dining room table is empty except for the centerpiece. This is a rare occurence.

Flank steak in the crockpot. When I get home I’ll fire up the oven and make Tater Tots and roasted cauliflower to accompany. Then I will either watch “White Christmas” or read an Agatha Christie. What shall it be?

Two batches of cookies are baked and packed up. I managed to destroy the pan - it can’t be cleaned without removing the non-stick coating. Bummer. I’s tahred - baking can be hard work!

In a few minutes, I’m going to dress in something appropriate and head to my former boss’ house. I few of my former coworkers will be there - it’ll be nice to see them all. Plus it’s in Virginia, so I can fill my car with cheap gas!

Doesn’t take much to get me excited, does it? :stuck_out_tongue:

FCM what I had settled in my chest and I still cough a bit. I was coughing a lot and yeah it hurt.

Wow, the town does look so normal. Those poor people.
This may be a dumb question, by why does so much media have to be there? I know back in the old days it was a race to see who got the story first but with the internet and all the news channels does it really matter anymore?

ems have a drink for me! I hardly drink at all anymore, sometimes I wish I did. Sometimes I wonder why I don’t.

I’m missing the extended family party. I was told it is next Saturday. I couldn’t go because I had a bunch of pet sitting. I found out the party is today, 3 hours before the party starts, and it’s in Pa. So I’m not going. If I had known sooner I may have gone but I wasn’t prepared and I’d be late. Now I just got a call that the pet sitting for that next Saturday is cancelled, the client had his dates wrong. So I thought I couldn’t go to a party that I could go to, only too late I find out I could, and now I find out I could have gone all along - or sumpin like that.
I need to go to irk and stop playing on the puter.

Actually I would take it as a sign today is the day to do whatever the fuck you want to since all obligations have failed.

Make it a you day.

Evenin’ all, hugs to those who need 'em.

Spent a day in Glastonbury town today- supposedly Christmas shopping, but really mainly laughing at the hippies, which is always really fun for the cynical minded, plus if you’re not you can get your chakras aligned by the weirdo of your choice
Plus they tend to have have good veggie food 'n cake…

It’s one of the very few places I’ve been where you can be there on a wet saturday afternoon and there will be people wearing anything from velvet cloaks and druid outfits to Robin Hood costume wandering round the high street, because that’s just the way they dress on a normal day.

Got wet, came home, now going to cinema for the first time this year- not sure why that enormous gap happened, but it shall be ended forthwith!
Happy remains of the sattidy!

I can do that

Dropped off christmas presents to son, daughter & wife on the way to work today, so that’s taken care of.

I also discovered that rather than presents sized for my son & daughter, I bought two presents sized for my daughter. So, I put a note in the one I bought for my son saying “if this is too small, tell your sister “Happy Birthday!” for me and I’ll double up on your birthday present next month,” because that’s how I roll.

I vote either Agatha Christie or Holiday Inn.

I was at Costco by 10:00 this morning where I spent too much, but I now have plenty of food in the house for my son’s arrival home for Christmas break.

I was shocked to see that there was very little Christmas stuff left in the store. I was planning on buying new strings of my light for my yet to be purchased tree, but there was very little left.

So, I am now forced to head to Target in hopes I can still find some there. There’s a tree lot near there and I’ll see if I can find a tree there. I hope I can find one.

Early dindin of grilled chikin sallits and cheesey garlic bread et. 'Twas good. It’s been a very mellow day at da cave. I even have a pot rost in the slow cooker for tomorrow’s N.O.L. Go Me!

We are going to a church Christmas party at 5:30. I was asked to bring a side dish of rice, so I am making a mix I already had for Mexican Yellow (saffron) rice. None of that plain old white rice crap.

For lunch the kiddos, hubs, and I went to O’Charlie’s. My mom had given me a $25.00 gift card to O’C’s for graduation and we ended up feeding everyone for 9.00! Our waitress was awesome so I tipped her $7.00

Aw… Got to the cinema ticket desk literally just as the sign changed from ‘tickets available’ to ‘sold out’, so no film for me today :frowning:

Pre-bought tickets for tomorrow instead, then walked home and just went to the supermarket to do boring old shopping. Bah.

I hates me some spoilers, so I’ve been staying away from the Hobbit threads. However, I’m curious, in a purely non-spoilery way, if anybody knows if it is only being shown in 3D? Early interviews I saw about it last summer made it look like it was only available in 3D, which would be awkward.

Also, a friend of mine who was supposed to fly up to Portland today to spend Christmas with her family missed her flight by six minutes because security was overly-retentive with her carryon. Yay.

I just had a look at Fandango, and yes, us stereoblind folks have not been shut out. Around here, it looks like any theater that is running it in 3D is also running about as many show times in headache-free 2D.
