I'm Dying

From the coal miners killed by deregulation to the Americans who died from salmonella out breaks by wreck-less corporations, to middle Americas falling salaries.

You, me, our entire middle class is dying, being destroyed, being murdered both financially and physically by the corporate profit first policies that the Republican party champions.

It’s perhaps the most clear cut moral issues of our time** corporations murdering and defrauding Americans on a massive scale because for several years the Republican party not only blocked all attempts to add additional regulation upon these companies, they went the extra mile for industry after industry and appointed industry insiders to regulatory positions not to regulate their industries, but to help them get around rules.

Or to put it another way the Republican party is directly complicit in the defrauding of millions of Americans and the murder of more Americans than the 3000+ that died on 9/11
And yet where were the democratic leaders and strategists that stated the facts as clearly as I just did?

With the exception of Alan Grayson and a few others nowhere

To Quote Robert Reich:

From the economic crapper were in caused by Republican deregulation to the tea bagger enthusiasm on the right there are a number of factors we can’t do much about in the next short months.

But the one thing we can do, the one area where we can turn things around is OUR messaging which right now sucks ass.

But our leaders are not going to do it, Obama isn’t willing to do it like FDR did. If he was right now

**+Inequality and the growing gap between the rich and the poor would be a massive if not the biggest campaign issue of today.
+In the health care debate we would have created powerful narratives with all the families of the fallen Americans who died at the hands of our murder for profit health insurance Cartels.
+Everyone in our country would know that wreck-less deregulation of the past three decades caused all the economic pain they are feeling right now.
** Everyone would know Millions of our jobs
have gone overseas with trade policies crafted by politicians not for the betterment of our country, but so multinational corporations can up their profits with third world dirt cheap slave labor.

And then some…

So we have to change it ourselves to give us a fighting chance and I have a plan to do just that by running ads like this we need to start hammering the GOP on the disasters that their policies cause.

I believe this Idea has the power to impact the elections, but outside of posting a link to my video everywhere I can, I’ve exhausted my resources to move this idea much farther without some help. The ads like the one above and many more can be made fast with the resources to do so, a connection with an organization that can do so, I’ve been trying, sending this to everyone who’s anyone and with the exception of Paul Rosenberg at Openleft.comAt link you can read the extended version of this diary btw  ) who put this on the front page of their site I haven’t so much as gotten a response from anyone.

For? Did I break a formating rule? Text to big or something?

I know I’m not off topic as this is certainly about the 2010 elections

As the sticky says

  1. As the name suggests, this forum is for discussion of issues related to the Nov. 2, 2010 U.S. general election. Discussions of electoral strategy and tactics, political parties, individual races, poll results, political news, and U.S. politicians and public figures are all appropriate for this forum.

Your post is a cut and paste from your journal. They frown on that sort of thing around here.

Reporting the post just alerts a mod/admin that we need a ruling here.

So what exactly would have have me do? Shorten it? Rewrite it to accomplish what exactly?
If you clicked the link to openleft I linked, you would see that what I posted there word for word is entirely different, this is not a copy and paste from my openleft journal.

You might want to try narrowing the scope. “Republicans Suck”, while a noble sentiment, probably is too general to generate much discussion beyond “No they don’t!” and “Yes they do!”.

Well I do, cite specific examples as to why they suck :stuck_out_tongue:

Deregulation
Free Trade
Tax Policy Etc.

I’m sorry, maybe I misunderstood you, but I can’t see a single attack in my whole body of text that I would consider general.

Between that odd formatting, the poor grammar, finding it on other BBs and asking us to circulate it for you (BTW how do you expect something like this to be tweeted?), your post screams “I’m spam! Delete me!”

Between that odd formatting - I think it’s ok, but I appreciate the criticism
Poor grammar - is it really that bad? Did you really have trouble reading any of it, it’s not perfect, I’m not perfect, but I think it’s more than coherent enough for anyone with a decent grasp of the English language.
*and asking us to circulate it for you *- It’s a suggestion for a powerful idea that…most people seem to like :frowning:
BTW how do you expect something like this to be tweeted? No clue, I have no experience with twitter, but I’d imagine you could just tweet the youtube video by itself :stuck_out_tongue:
your post screams "I’m spam! Delete me! If you want, if it’s necessary I could rewrite the post several different ways for you, for the mods, this site seems to have alot of discussion and I want to discuss this here and plan to be very proactive in doing so as long as people care to respond

Pick one and have at it. People here have little patience for rambling screeds. Also, this forum is about election specific issues, so complaints about the GOP as a whole will be seen as just another partisan rant.

Actually it all ties into a strategy and attacking them on only one issue would be a weak strategy in my opinion.

  1. As the name suggests, this forum is for discussion of issues related to the Nov. 2, 2010 U.S. general election. Discussions of electoral strategy and tactics, political parties, individual races, poll results, political news, and U.S. politicians and public figures are all appropriate for this forum.

It’s a copy and paste from your other journal.

I’m not linking to it but it’s easy to find on Google.

Lets be honest though, Idk what your problem is with my post here, but I don’t believe thats it, If I had wrote a version of the topic specifically for this forum, if this was only single place on the whole internet in which I posted this can you honestly say you wouldn’t have responded negatively to my thread?

It’s something else (the length? the murderous light in which it paint the Republican party? the format?)

I would rewrite it for you guys who hate it, but I just don’t see how I could write it differently and get everything I want to get across in the subject without you guys responding with the same reaction.

One of you ask me to focus on a single issue, but that doesn’t work because this strategy I’m trying to articulate is about all of the above. Maybe you could try and show me at least partially how you would have “properly” articulated the message I’m trying to put out…

I’d appreciate it, I’ve yet to get any complaints like I’m getting here about the several different versions of this strategy anywhere else, but if this many of you feel this strongly about it I’m sure there are a number of silent critics I didn’t here from in other places.

By all means, have at it. I was just offering some friendly advice for getting along here. But you are free to go about it any way that floats your boat. We’ll see what the readers think.

I didn’t say I couldn’t read it, I said the grammar was poor. People tend to dismiss rants pretty readily. If you really want it to be read and discussed you need to do everything you can to keep people from thinking it’s junk. Poor grammar has a tendency to make the reader think that the writer is just babbling on about something or that they a nutcase that’s not worth taking seriously. Add some commas and colons, learn the difference between were and we’re and clean up the formatting.

Also, you’re more likely to have a decent discussion if you don’t plaster the identical post all over the internet. I see it’s in several more places since I made that comment earlier. IMHO, doing that tells me you don’t want to have a discussion, you’re just spreading propaganda.

Also, to get back to what I was saying earlier, I understand this a political issue, but everything you’re doing screams SPAM. Anytime there’s a spammer on the board it’s always poor grammar, same post all over the internet, odd formatting etc…

Even if I wanted to edit it mind telling me how one here is suppose to edit their post :stuck_out_tongue: It appears the edit button disappears for a post after so many minutes, so what would you suggest if I wanted to reword my post? Also is there anyway to embed videos or images in the threads here?

Welcome to the SDMB, progrimm. As several people have noted, we prefer focused discussions here, preferably of material directly interacting with other people on this site, rather than just C&Ps from one’s blog or suchlike.

I recommend that you read our registration agreement and other material on rules and guidelines in ATMB (About This Message Board).

I am going to close this thread as too broad and not directly, specifically relevant to any particular race in the 2010 election. Please review our forum descriptions and place any new threads you want to start – on clear, focused, and specific topics – in the correct forum. I’m thinking Great Debates might be a better fit for you.

Our edit window is 5 minutes, we recommend that you use “preview” as much as you need to before you hit submit.

And no, we don’t allow embedding videos or images (or avatars) – we’re very much a text-based community. If you wish to provide a link to a video or image hosted elsewhere, please feel to do so.
