I just wanted to share the news with everyone here! Matt asked me to marry him Monday evening and I accepted. No date is set as of yet but when it is I will let you all know. I was completely surprised when he asked me. I knew that he had been thinking about it a lot lately and we had discussed it a time or two but I had no idea that he had picked out a ring and everything. I was shocked but ecstatic!
Also, on a more sober note, my surgery to remove the cysts from my ovaries is scheduled for noon tomorrow so please keep me in your thoughts. I’m hoping that everything goes well and I can be back on the board by the weekend to give you and update. (It’s not pathetic of me that one of my top priorities is getting back on the board, is it?? Nah!)
This engagement has lifted my spirits tremendously in spite of having to go in for surgery. I just wanted to share the happy news with my fellow Dopers!!
The ring is a diamond in the shape of a heart. I don’t know how many carets it is or anything but it is a good sized diamond. I wish you could see it. It’s beautiful!! He did a wonderful job picking it out, I’m so proud of him!
Congratulations!! That is wonderful that you are getting married. It must have been great to be surprised by him having the ring and everything all ready. It shows how committed he is to you, I think.

As a fellow engaged person, I’m especially thrilled for you! You’ll find yourself saying “fiancé” an awful lot. It was really weird at first, and even stranger to consider I was going to be a wife and he was going to be my husband. Do you find yourself doing a double take on the ring? It tripped me out for weeks. I also found it necessary to get acrylic (well, silk wrap) nails–my little stubbly fingers looked so pathetic with that delicate ring.

How wonderful, Rachelle! I’m so happy for both of you. You have a great guy there, not the least because he was sensible enough to snap up a prize like you and do it up right, to boot.
I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts tomorrow. By this time tomorrow it’ll all be over, you won’t have to dread it and you can forge full steam ahead on the wedding.
