I'm getting a cat! Wanna name him?

Why not name him Freud?

Crankerton.

Awww :frowning: I just saw this. I’m sorry. Well, maybe you’ll find a well moggy who has been vacinnated, and be able to stockpile money for his upkeep soon?

Definitely her.

Thank you guys; I’m going to save up and get a cat from the RSPCA sometime within the next few months.

Sternvogel; how can you tell from that silly picture on the front page? Or is the background that gives me away?

I feel so loved, actually.

I’m sorry plans for your feline overlord didn’t work out, but good for you for directing the current owner to someone with the funds to care for him properly.

I’m sure your new overlord will be coming along soon.

Looks lots like MY Russian Blue.

Holy cow Nawth Chucka that is a gorgeous cat!

Funny story about Russian Blues: my mum had one growing up in New Zealand. It was a short haired dusty coloured female who often sat just in front of the porch and waited for her when she got home from school.

One evening, she was dropped off at home by a friend’s parent and saw her cat waiting just outside the lamplight, so she scooped her up and carried her to the front door. As she was fiddling with her house keys, she looked at the cat’s face and saw two pink eyes.

She put down the possum and found her cat just inside the door.

The possum didn’t mind being carried? Wow.

Thanks! His name is Stretch; it’s what he does.

Possums can be surprizingly mellow creatures. There’s one that shows up around my place every now and then, who can hardly be bothered to get out of the way when I chase after him.

Opossum is as opossum does

Keep in mind that Aussie/Kiwi possums are a little different from Opossums;
Kiwi Possum
US Opossum

Until I saw a picture of an opossum with its mouth wide open, I never knew why people kept ranting about them. I always thought ‘yeah, they’re a bit pesky coz they crap everywhere but they’re kinda cute’. I was so wrong.

Yes, ours hang under the branch, while yours hang over the branch.

Well you’re more likely to find them on power lines these days.

I don’t know why but the name Sputnik sprang to mind. Might as well save this thread for when you do get a cat. But please bump it so we know what you picked. I hate it when people ask us for advice and then never tell us whether they took it and how it went.

My theory of cat’s names is that cats should have a last name indicitive of their personality while sounding vaguely Hobbitish. For instance my cat’s name is Delilah Underfoot. Of the Waikiki Underfeet.

When I was a kid we had an orange cat named Rebus Caneebus by my dad. That remains the best name for a cat I’ve ever heard.

Freudian Push Up Bra, with your awesome screen name (and I really do mean that), might you consider naming a cat that you get some day “D-Cup”?

( “I just added milk & look at her now…!”)

The only logical choice for your cat’s name is, “Tibby”. A Tibby was part of my family when I was born and a Tibby has been in my family ever since. The only time we may name a cat anything but Tibby, is when there is already a Tibby in the house (two Tibbies would be silly and redundant). The succession of Tibbies in my family since 1957 is as follows:

Tibby I, Tibby II, Tibby III & Tommy, Tibby IV + Pasha + Ignatz (aka Iggy), TibbyV, Tibby VI + Libby.

There were, of course, Tibbies in my family long before I was born, but for some long forgotten reason, we didn’t start numbering them until 1957. One Tibby was an orange Manx, two were orange Tabbies, and two were Grey Maine Coon cats. The first Maine Coon had a perpetually tilted head from vestibular damage resulting from ingesting the neurotoxin of a poisonous skink’s tail. Tibby VI outlived his sister, Libby, and is going strong.

If your cat is good and honorable, you have my permission to use the name, Tibby.

Tuck and Roll?

Dr. PoopiePant, I have a friend whose brother Monty has named all of his pets after him. They have been various animals; rats, cats and guinea pigs. They currently have a pretty cat named Monty X (ten).

So the new cat (if and when etc. etc.) risks being named:
Baron von Felis
His/Her Excellency, De Pookenbocken (nickname?)
or some ungodly mix of the suggestions in this thread, followed by Esquire the Third, Knight of Knicker Drawer/Lady of the Laundry Basket. I’ll have it engraved on their tag too. In 2.5 font.

But these are the cats currently up for adoption at my local RSPCA.

Now, I’ve got to pick one. Damn.

I say you get Steeeeeelllllllllllllaaaaaaaa!!!
