I'm getting morphine.

I know I don’t post all that often, but it will be a while longer before I can post again, or even lurk around for that matter. I’m going to be going to the hospital tomorrow for hip surgery. It’s something called a periacetabular osteotomy. I have a hip dysplasia and what they are going to do is cut my pelvic bone and reposition it. I expect to be in the hospital for about a week, and out of commission for a lot longer. I’m hoping that when I get home I can continue lurking around the SDMB but I’m not really sure if I’ll be able to sit at my computer desk. Unfortunately I don’t think my husband will consider moving the thing so I can have better accessibility. Feel free to e-mail him about his lack of compassion. Don’t let him get away with it. Just because he is taking a month off to help care for me and the kiddies is no excuse ; )

I’m going to miss everyone here. Wish me luck.

Ouch, Tina! Good luck. And your topic title nicely pointed out the high point of your upcoming experience. (Pun intended.)

Quisp,

Ouch … Hope the operation goes well and that you are back up to speed ASAP. Maybe your husband could get you a laptop for a coming home gift.

A point in every direction is like no point at all

Here’s hoping for a speedy mend.

The thought occurs that if you mainly lurk, you really need only the mouse most of the time, so it might not be that hard to get the machine next to the bed where you can see the monitor and move the mouse(?).

I had an aunt that had a hip replacement. She went from barely hobbling with a cane to chasing youngsters around the yard.

May everything go well for you, and may your morphine drip flow freely.

Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

qwisp, All my best and a speedy recovery.

You’re going to love the morphine.

I agree, morphine is wonderful. I’m sorry you have to go through that to get it, though. Good luck, heal soon.

Drink up, dear. I made it just for you.

A sig for Tina:

The operation? Well, now I walk like a duck, but I won’t sue 'cause I’m getting a lot of laughs.

Best wishes for a quick recovery, Tina, maybe you could show your husband all of these responses, and he’ll feel sorry for depriving you of the SD company!

Have him post, when the operation is all over and how you’re doing, okay??

I hope you have a minimum of discomfort, a maximum of benefit, and a lightning-quick recovery.

I’ll stop procrastinating tomorrow.

What Scarlet said! Best of luck, Tina, and enjoy the nice legal high

Good luck. And, hey… when you are back on your feet, post more often!

Get well soon.

(I have to confess… I thought this was a spinoff from the “Guy Stuff” thread.)

Good Luck.

Thanks all for the well wishes.I’ll be thinking of everyone whilst I’m in the throes of a legal high.

Get well soon, and I hope you are on your feet and able to chase your hubby around the room soon. He is so nice to take the time off for you.
