I'm going nuts trying to identify this song!

I was wondering if you people could help me with identifying this song that has been stuck in my head for quite some time since I heard it on the local soft rock station. Unfortunately, I can’t remember a single lyric; otherwise I’d ask or search elsewhere. I saw someone ask for help about a song on this board who typed the note letters for want of music. May I try this method? Here’s what I remember of the chorus. Letters with apostrophes are 16th notes, 8th notes are plain letters.

BPM = 80-100?
B’ D’ E’ G E E E D;

B’ D’ E’ G E E E D;

B’ D’ E’ G E E E D; B D E
Some background…it sounds rather early 80s or so, and it features a tenor lead vocal that sounds rather like Phil Collins…

Perhaps anyone might know offhand? Thanks so much.

That’s All – Genesis.

And that G would be a dotted eighth… :wink:

(or eighths, quarters, and dotted quarter – depending on what key sig it’s in).

And yes – that is Phil Collins on the vocals.

That’s All! entered Billboad’s Top 40 chart in December 1983, and stayed there six weeks, peaking at #6. You can hear it on their album Turn It On Again–Hits, or listen to an excerpt at the CDnow website (www.cdnow.com).

Whoops, it was on the Top 40 charts for fourteen weeks.

I KNEW there was a dot somewhere in there…:smiley: but, I’m glad this is solved…Thanks a lot!
