While I fervently hope you are right, I then wonder if there are those who will fume and foam at the mouths because he DID win… it’s just that the Shadow Cabal altered the VOTE COUNT… or something equally nuts.
By the same token, if somehow, Hillary was to win, what kind of nutsy fruitsy conspiracy would erupt then? It’s pretty obvious she wasn’t born in Kenya…
Yes, someone else bout the domain TedCruzdotcom and put up a pro obama message. I am thoroughly anti republican but I’ve allways thought it was wrong that someone else could buy your name and make a webpage against you.
I have a VERY righty friend who’s opinion I respect because he’s open to debate and he has a lot of lefty friends so it’s interesting to watch him (outspoken) and his outspoken friends go back and forth on facebook. I really get a lot of info about both sides that way. Anyways, when Obama didn’t salute because he was holding the coffee, my friend made a comment, followed by a bunch of stupid comments (communist in command etc). I posted a picture of Bush doing literally the exact same thing (the one where he was holding the dog and not saluting) and quite quickly got a reply along the lines of ‘we’re not talking about Bush’. To which I replied something like 'why not, if you’re going to rip on Obama, isn’t it only fair that i get to apply your comments to Bush for doing the same thing".
In the end, politics have been going on for so long that I think most things one party has done, you can find someone (even at the same level) from the other party that has done the same thing as well. Unless you do a helluva job checking it out, you’re probably better off not making an ass of yourself calling them out on it. I was surprised at how many R’s got their panties in a bunch of the Obama not saluting thing when Bush did the exact same thing. Same goes for Obama not going to every-single-funeral for a soldier. I’m guessing neither of the Bush’s did either. We can go on and on like this. I’m just glad that kind of stuff is mostly contained to internet comments and neither prez really comments on it (so far as I know, I don’t pay too much attention to it in the news).
The “Birther” argument didn’t really have anything to do with Obama’s birth. It was just a paper-thin cover over appealing to xenophobia. It let his opponents rehash his Kenyan family connection over and over again.
You won’t see anything similar with Cruz, because his political opponents don’t really have a problem with Canadians or Cubans.
Or perhaps a better contrast, almost nothing was made of McCain’s citizenship issues in 2008, despite the fact that unlike with Obama or Cruz, there is an actual meaningful argument* to be made in that case. But there’s no sizable chunk of the US population that has any particular animosity to children of Admirals born in the Canal Zone (rather the opposite, actually), so it was barely mentioned in the 2008 election, while a non-trivial faction of the GOP spent a large chunk of the '08 election pushing extended fantasies about the circumstances of Obama’s birth.
*(I think McCain’s qualifications for Prez were fine, but unlike with Obama, the argument against is at least strong enough that I wouldn’t think someone was nuts for holding the opposite view. It doesn’t require insane conspiracy theories or super-stretched legal interpretations).
I have no idea if this is authentic or not, but there is no doubt that Rafael Cruz was born in Canada. Tell you what, Canada. We’ll keep Cruz and let him run for president and lose if you take back Justin Bieber.
The most disturbing thing about that birth certificate is that Cruz is the first serious (well, sort of) presidential candidate that I’ve noticed is younger than me.

No. The Prez and VP are the only ones that have to be “Natural Born Citizens”. Congress-critters only have to have been US citizens for seven years before being elected.
One of the scary things about Cruz (and I could be wrong because I don’t really know much about hi), is that I think he’s like Ann Coulter-- smart enough to not actually believe his own bullshit, but he knows it works and doesn’t really care because… hey, fame/fortune!!
Not even the Kenyan thing. If his middle name wasn’t Hussein, I doubt there would have even been half as much [manufactured] outrage. People from one party need something to yell at the other party against. Having a president with a middle name like that game the Republicans a whole lot to tell about. And it was great that they birthers/fringe had something like that to waste their energy on an Obama didn’t really do a whole lot of responding to it.
