I'm going to call the kettle black: Let's see the birth certificate!

You forgot the worst one of them all, the one who ran with the birther torch the longest and hardest, Orly Taitz.

How easily we forget just how loony the whole thing got.

Well, they are, but not because of any birther-type reasons.

I issued a decree that there shall be no more Republican Presidents, and I expect compliance.

Never Forget!!!

First, I heard a rumor that Ted Cruz sent the forms to the wrong address, and actually renounced his American citizenship rather than his Canadian citizenship. I don’ t know if its true, but this needs investigation anyway.

Second, it is obvious to me that we need more security along the NORTHERN border, after seeing what kind of threat to the American way of life is now present in this country.

And they’re going to be okay with a guy named Cruz?

:dubious:

With serious questions like this you need to consult with an expert like Orly Taintz ,and she seems to be cool with Sen Ted Cruz.

Sure. The actor with that name is a little kooky (Scientology, jumping on couches), but he’s been All-American Apple Pie ever since Risky Business!

Okay, so he’ll play well with republicans who can’t spell. How about the ones who think Cuba is filled with godless heathen commies? People were opposed to Obama’s dad being from Kenya, and most people don’t know jack about Kenya, except for that part about the game preserve in Jurassic Park.

Everyone knows that all the good Cubans came here!

Seriously, though, if Marco Rubio can make it happen, despite his name, then Ted Cruz certainly can.

Yeah, this shit has gone too far. Let’s invade Granada and be done with it.

With the GOP, the inmates run the asylum.

Tell them we need to invade Granita. They’ll eat it up.

I think the Senate should do the same thing with Cruz as they did with McCain and pass a resolution stating that the Senate considers him a natural born citizen.

Barak Baratheon?

Sigh. When even Politifact gets it wrong it’s not a good thing.

Passing your US citizenship to your offspring born abroad has not always been automatic. Even to this daythere are requirements for the US citizen parent to reside in the US* for a minimal period of time to be able to pass citizenship to their offspring.

Obama’s mother Ann Dunham was too young at the time of Obama’s birth in Hawaii to have amassed the residency requirement of the law in force at the time of his birth to pass citizenship to him by right of blood had he actually been born overseas. But since he was born in Hawaii he received US citizenship by right of the soil, jus soli.

The whole Birthergate seemed silly to me simply because they attacked the veracity of a state issued birth certificate which is the standard of legal proof any of us have to establish the circumstances of our births. I’ll recognize your birth certificate if you recognize and accept mine seems like a fair trade off to me.

  • time spent in certain activities such as military assignment overseas or employment by the US government overseas count as physical residence in the US for the purposes of this aspect of immigration law.

Has any presidential candidate ever been declared ineligible by a court to run?

I don’t think so. I’m not sure it would even be possible, since the actual legal candidates in each state are slates of 3-55 people most voters have never heard of.

Slates of electors have nothing to do with this question.

Well he *is *trying to STEAL (one of) ARE JOBS. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.

Officially, who checks this? Who carries the burden of proof of looking at the document and saying “Yep, he’s good”?
