I'm going to Cuba! Can you recommend a good book?

I’m very excited. Boy Next Door and I are going to Cuba this fall on a Photo Quest Adventure. I’m hoping fellow Dopers can help me out here:

  1. I’d like to become more familiar with the history of this country. Are there any books you’d recommend I read before I go?

and

  1. Have any of you ever been? Tell me your Cuba stories.
