I’m really going this time-- it’s not just a clever subject line to introduce a related subject.
I’ve decided I’m going to leave on 10/27 (Friday) and return on 11/5 (Sunday). That means I get 9 days at the World but only have to miss 6 days of work (which just happens to be EXACTLY how much vacation time I have).
This trip will be a momentous occasion for me, for many reasons.
-
I haven’t been to WDW since 1993. That is bad form for me, as I would go every two years or so when I was a kid.
-
Mrs. Rastahomie has never been, so it will be an extra-special trip for her.
-
The whole Millenium Celebration thing they’ve got going on.
-
This will be my first time flying there.

This will be my first time staying at a Disney-owned resort hotel. All of my previous trips have involved staying in a cheap hotel in the nearby town of Kissimmee.
Here’s the real kicker: When I started formulating my plans, we were originally going to stay at the All Star resorts. However, I did some checking, and I found that there are no discounted rooms available for Magic Kingdom Club members (such as myself), so I’d have to pay the regular room rate of $94/night. On a whim, I asked about discounts at the Caribbean Beach resort (better than the All Stars, but not the best). Lo and behold, the room rate would only be $110 per night with my discount- only $16 per night more than the cheapo rooms. Needless to say, I jumped.
Mrs. Rastahomie doesn’t know yet, so please don’t tell her. I’m going to surprise her with a nice little gift package containing a stuffed Minnie Mouse toy and a few other hints.
I just wanted to share my good news with all of you!
BTW, I notice that there are upwards of 4,000 registered users at this site. If every user sent a $1 donation to Rastahomie’s Disney Adventure Fund…
heh heh
