Hmmm. I arrive in Orlando the morning of the 24th for a stay with my mom north of Tampa unti the 10th of December.
One of my planned diversions while in FLA (other than my regular pilgrimage to the Kennedy Space Center) is a drive to Key West.
Hope for both our sakes that it’s nice and warm. The last two times I’ve gone to visit my folks, during Chirstmas, it’s been unseasonably cold, in fact freezing one year, all over the state. This time, I’m looking forward to sunny skies and warm temps.
Uh…TVGuy, it’s been colder in this part of Florida (Gainesville, northern Florida) than last year… Although I do wish for warmer weather in the next weeks.
I work at Universal Studios. Stop by and say hello! (e-mail me off-board for some of my ‘Theme Park Survival Tips Like A Local’ - otherwise it would take up a helluva lot of bandwith).
[Grinchmas (at Islands of Adventure) and the Macy’s Parade (at the Studios) will be running through December.]
Yeah, it’s been windy, cold and rainy these last couple of days (highs in the 60s. but bone-chilling), so I’d bring some warm stuff, just in case.
Too bad you won’t be there a couple of days longer - my Perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup] will be singing with her school chorus at EPCOT on Dec 3 as part of their annual Christmas show. I’m hoping I can get off work to attend. So you’re missing an opportunity to meet me! Damn the luck!
FCM - thanks for the heads up - I have an annual pass to MouseWorld [aka ‘RatLand’, if I’m in a bad mood]. Is here school doing all the performances that day, or a one particular one? Any idea who the guest reader will be?
If it’s a good one, I might pick up the Candlelight Dinner Package for that evening (reserved seats, close enough to video tape…).
Aw hell, I’d video-tape TPC anyway for ya. If I ca find where I stashed the tripod. And the charger. And the camera.
Quick update FCM - the guest reader for that evening is…

Heh. I’m in heaven.
Oh, and if anyone wanted to go a different night, the readers are:
Nov.29-Dec 1 – Roy E. Disney
Dec. 2-4 – John Tesh
5–7 Marlene Matlin
8-10 – James Avery (he was great to watch where he was here before!)
11-13 – Yolanda Adams
14-16-- David Hartman
17-19 – Colin Ray
20-22 – Blair Underwood
23-28 – Gary Sinese (he was great last year)
29-30 – Jodi Benson (Though I am going to be picturing “The Little Mermaid” reading the Christmas Story)
Her chorus is singing the 5 o’clock show. She’s bummed now because she wanted Gary Sinese to do her show… Last time her group performed, Ben Vereen was the reader.
Would’ve trampled adorable small children to see Ben Vereen. Such a voice. Now if only they had James Earl Jones…
Tell her I’ll be in the audience. Only the 5 o’clock show? The reservations person told me the school choirs do all the shows for that evening? Odd bit of misinformation. Thanks for the heads up.
AFAIK, her school is only singing the show at 5. Last time, then did 2. Maybe they just have lots of groups to work into the schedule. <shrug> But it’s fine by me. I can leave after the show and still get home at a decent hour.
Excellent. Considering the traffic on I-4 and the Disney area. I’ll see if I can snag an early shift at the park and swing by for the package (show first, then dinner).
