I’ll be going to Disneyworld the first week of December, 2010. What I’ve read in various Disney-related media (fansites, books) is that Orlando winter weather can most charitably be described as “unpredictable” (although locals may have another word for it). I’ve heard that it can be sunny and in the 80’s, or rainy and in the 50’s, and that it’s bascially a big roll of the dice what you’ll get.
Can you guys assure me that I won’t freeze to death when I hit the World next year? What’s an “average of averages,” so to speak, of what I can expect?
NOTE: I’ve looked at weather data on weather.com, wikipedia, and city-data.com and gotten a general idea, but what I’m looking for in this thread is personal experiences, horror stories, anecdotes, and reassurances, not pure science.
It’s been my experience that Orlando(ish) gets the cold weather in January/February. I’ve worn shorts on Thanksgiving.
Our rainy season is the summer, but I won’t tell you that you won’t get wet, because you never know. I can assure you that you won’t freeze. Bring along an extra sweater, and spend spend spend!
I’ve lived in the Orlando area for 18 years now. It’s pretty nice in December. The weather starts to cool down around Halloween–by “cool down” I mean it goes from 95 with 90 percent humidity to the lower 80s and lower humidity. It sometimes gets cold in December, but usually it is what I consider beautiful, in the high 70s and low 80s. I don’t think it rains much in December, although you never know. It certainly doesn’t rain then as much as it rains in the summer, which is almost every day (although usually not for the whole day). I think that’s a good time to come here. It actually can get cold here in January and February, especially in the morning and evening.
You probably know this, but if not that is one of the parts of the year when crowds are at their low point for Disney. Mostly because people tend to go around Christmas instead of early Dec.
