Esprix, I had no idea you were in the SCA. Well, have fun, use sunblock, and wear your purple feather. (My apologies if I didn’t get that right.) I wish I could make it to Pennsic this year, but being unemployed the last seven months has put a damper on a lot of plans.
You’re from San Diego, right? Is that Caid, or Kingdom of the West? I’m in Meridies.

(I am, after all, one of the movers and shakers of the Clan, both running the encampment and running/hosting the Ball at Pennsic.) And San Diego is considered part of Caid, the Barony of Calafia.

Jealous, bitter, and not going, though I will be within a few miles at a cousin’s wedding, only to return home Pennsicless to start a new job.
Next year. Definitely next year, unless something bad happens.
So can people actually just go up and see what is going on up there?
I live within an hour of Slippery Rock, and while I had heard of Pennsic before, I never paid any attention to what it actually was, or ever made plans to go.
I wouldn’t mind checking it out though.
No, they don’t let you in unless you pay to be there, and they check IDs at the gates. It’s probably possible to sneak in, but I wouldn’t want to try to tell you how, and you’d be really conspicuous in modern clothes.
Better just join the SCA, or just pay up and come for the week. Bring a tent, one tunic, and enormous sums of money, and you can get everything else you need once you get there.

Wow, Esprix. I missed this thread before, but my roomie and his ex-girlfriend were at Pennsic. From what I understand, their camp was right next door to the nude swimming hole. (That’s where my roomie spent 90% of his time, being cheered on by women already there.) The first night he was there, he was dubbed the “Phantom Kisser”, because he got crazy-drunk and smooched everyone in his camp.
I hope you had as much fun as he had!
