Day after tomorrow, I must report to the hospital at 9:30AM. I have not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR kidney stones in my right kidney! At this moment, they are not any place where they are causing pain (praise God!), but they gotta go! Doc says that where they are, gravity is not going to help me pass them. He has to go in and get them. The procedure sounds pretty simple: Under general anasthetic (which I hate), they pierce my kidney, and use something to dilate a hole to about 3/8 of an inch. Then, they use a thin flexible wire to get out the stones. If all goes well, it’ll be an overnight hospital stay, then a week to full recovery. The only problem is that sometimes, they pierce a major bleeding artery, and if that happens, they’ll have to cut me, which means a longer hospital stay and longer recovery. So, here’s hoping all goes well!
I’ll be praying that you have an easy and successful surgery, hon. And sending good thoughts and healing vibes as well.
My Love,
Cheri
I’ll add my well wishes too. General anestesia sucks … but kidneys hurt a lot to be poked so be happy you’re sleeping
Ow ow ow ow ow.
I had one lasered over a year ago. ouchie
I hope everything goes well - and you are better real quick.
Better to have them out before they begin causing pain than after, right?
Best of luck with a quick recovery.
Ouch. My father used to get kidney stones a lot, and they were definitely no fun.
Good luck to you, and get well soon!
Actually, they started causing pain in early April. That’s how I found out they were there! I put off surgery cuz my father was sick, then after that was over, I called to schedule. Doc was out of town for a couple of weeks, so that’s why it took so long to schedule the surgery.
Thanks for all your thoughts, guys!
Well, actually, they started causing pain the beginning of April, which is how I found out they’re there! But first we had to wait for the infection to clear up, then I had to put off the surgery because my father was sick, then the doctor had to go out of town. . .finally we have it scheduled. I’m not looking forward to it, but it will be good to have it over with!

Norinew I hope things go well for you today and that the surgery is successful and uneventful. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
Norinew hope all goes well today and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Luck with the upcoming surgery.
Good luck, Norinew. I’m sending healing vibes to you. Best wishes for your recovery.
Thanks for all the good wishes, guys. We’re down to the wire now, I’ll be at the hospital in less than two hours, and, if all goes smoothly, on the table in less than three.
I’ll post to this thread in a couple of days or so and let everyone know how it went (I’ll try to leave out the gorier details:))
