I'm holding my baby. (Warning - VERY SAD)

My baby is having one of those days–you know, where she is tired but not ready to nap, fussy but doesn’t want her bottle, clingy but then wants down as soon as I pick her up.
But I’m appreciating every second of it, because I heard from my friend, who has a daughter just a few months older than Babypoet.
Tomorrow she goes for a scan of her lungs, to see if the tumor growing there has stopped growing. If it has, or if (pleaseGodplease) it has shrunk, they will start another round of chemo. If it has grown, they will send her home to die.
She has a hepatic rhabdoid on her liver, with nodes in the lung. Her doctors can only find 3 or 4 other cases of similar cancers. None of them survived.
Rachy, honey, every god I’ve ever heard of, and a good many I’m inventing on the spot, will be hearing my voice from now until then. And meanwhile, I’ll just keep trying to keep my baby in my arms.

I had to go upstairs and get my son before I could answer this.

Let your friend know that we’ll be praying for her.

Aw, gosh, that’s a parent’s worst nightmare. Hope everything turns out okay for the little girl.

My daughter had a school mate who died last week after a lengthy illness. He was in 1st grade. Should have been in 2nd grade but spent most of his time in hospitals waiting lung transplants so he was a grade behind.

They just shouldn’t make caskets that size. :frowning:

I was cleaning out my parents house and found a tiny picture of my Dad’s little sister. She died at age 3 of chicken pox.
Makes you go hug your baby close…
My prayers to your friend as well.

Sending my Good Vibes/Positive Thoughts/Prayers to your friend & her family.

I am not a mother but this still pulled at my maternal instinct. My heart goes out to your friend and her daughter - sending positive thoughts to the whole family

Sending prayers and good thoughts for your friend and the baby.

Bodypoet, hug babypoet for me… I hope everything goes well for your friend’s child… what a horrible thing to live through as a parent… hell, as a human being.

:frowning:

All of us here are sending prayers, thoughts, and whatever else will help.

Elly

All the best wishes, prayers, good thoughts for your friend and baby.

And keep your baby close in your arms.

:frowning:

Best wishes and positive vibes for your friend.

:frowning:

Be strong, and may your friend’s child be well.

I’m not a mother, but I do love kids. Hearing about this sad news saddened me. It reminded me of the time a few years ago that my friends’ first child (a son) died of numerous prenatal complications at four days. Very sad. :frowning:

Tell your friend that I’ll be praying for her, and sending her good thoughts. Meanwhile, keep your baby close to you.

Good thoughts, distant prayers, hopes from the soul for babypoet and all other sick children. I’m not a mother either – but every little one deserves a chance, and a healthy life.

Best wishes.

Thank you all for your kind wishes. I’ll post here as soon as I hear anything new about Rachy. Her mom did say that she’s very grateful to find that she (Rachy) is feeling pretty lively and cheerful, in spite of the chemo she’s already had. That’s a small spot of brightness in all of this.
Ice Wolf, I should clarify…babypoet is well and healthy; my friend’s daugher (she is just a few months older than babypoet) has cancer. Thanks so much for your thoughts.
I just can’t imagine having to cope with something like this. I get sick to my stomach even thinking about it.

Praying for the little girl, and the others in her family, and mentioned on this board.

<---- praying for all

bodypoet, good thoughts and all my best wishes for your friend and her little one. And lots of good vibes to you, too, to help you support your friend.

Thinking of and praying for Rachy here, too…

Ah! I didn’t read the OP properly! :smack: Sorry, bodypoet!

Please transfer all that I wrote over to your friend and her little one.

More good thoughts and best wishes heading to your friend and her daughter.
