Nice to see you made it safe.
Glad to hear you both made it safe and sound.
Aww thanks gang. It’s good to be home! Damn it’s humid though! We had rain and thunder yesterday which I thought was really cool, since I hadn’t seen rain since like April!
Our drive cross country was pretty uneventful luckily. Except that it was HOT. We left Saturday the 4th, stayed in Flagstaff, Oklahoma City, Nashville, then to virtee’s folks in VA. Stayed there a couple days, then hit RI on Friday night. We took Interstate 40 most of the way (from SoCal to Knoxville) and it was good traveling. Except for Arkansas. The entire Natural State was under construction! UGH. It was horrible.
So here’s my impression of our trip:
SoCal: Hot. Bland. People live in Bakersfield? shudder
Arizona: Dry as hell! Pretty though.
New Mexico: Dry as hell, a bit more red and green than AZ. Beautiful.
Texas: Holy fuck it’s flat! Drove through the Panhandle and oh my GOD you could see all the way to Kansas I think! (I waved to Una!)
Oklahoma: Flat. Uneventful, except for the tire retread we ran over doing about 80 mph… no damage though.
Arkansas: The state motto should be “Under Construction”. It sucked. We added like 3 hrs to our travel time sitting in traffic!
Tennesee: Very humid. Lots of big bugs. The people talk funny.
Virginia: Nice and green… looked kinda like home.
I’d been through the rest of the states so I won’t elaborate on them. virtee drove the ENTIRE time. God I love him! So I passenged the whole way, which was fine by me. We killed more bugs than imaginable. My poor car was encrusted!
So it’s good to be home, see my family… and to be back here.
Welcome back Rasa…I hope you find that home feels like home now… Glad you made it in one piece…so after all this driving are ya gonna become a long distance trucker now…
