Several years ago I was reading a book on language and ran across my name and a quote from a letter I had had published in The Washington Post years before. I was so stunned it took me quite a while before I could continue reading the book!
I was once snapped in Hong Kong Tatler when I MCed a very posh do (notable because a front-row billionaire nearly got set on fire by a firebreather). I’m also mentioned in my great aunt’s biography. And finally a picture I took is mentioned in Lynne Truss’s Eats, Shoots and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation.
jack, I would like to feature one of your pics on my blog, but need your permission. Is it okay, and can you send me the one you prefer?
Thanks and grats again, buddy!

Go for it. Just include a link to the photographer’s book. Pick whichever you like, I like them all.
Very cool!
On the subject of body paint: Apparently, the SPF of “Blue” is pretty good. But the SPF of those parts of blue which a friend wipes away to make interesting swirly patterns across your breasts…not enough. Swirly sunburns, yay! And it took months - literally months - for it to fade entirely. The painting was in July, and I had to buy a new dress for *Christmas *so my mother-in-law wouldn’t ask me why there were tan swirls in my decolletage. :smack:
On the subject of finding yourself in a book: Not me, but while idly flipping through a friend’s textbook from her Textiles and Clothing Design (or something) class, I found mention of my dad. I had no idea he was “a pioneer in the field of [technically specific] fabrics”. I think I learned more about his work from that book than anything he’d ever told us at the dinner table!
