Wealth creation is important. That puts the capital in capitalism. Usually the rich support the economy by starting businesses, generating employment, and providing capital to other businesses through stocks and bonds. Even lavish spending supports the boat builders, diamond studded watch makers, gold plated bidet makers, etc. Furthermore, there has been a tradition of the very wealthy donating their wealth to charitible foundations which support worthy causes for decades or centuries.
OTOH Recently we have seen a phenomenon where executives breach their fiduciary responsibilities to stockholders and their employees (see, Enron, WorldCom, Global Crossing, etc.). This insider type dealing shifts all the burden of risk on those who can least afford it. Capitalism requires a mostly even playing field. At least in terms of information, the executives cannot use their unique knowledge to rape and pillage a corporation’s assets and leave the employees and shareholders to suffer.
We need these crooked executives in handcuffs, prison, and subjected to forced sodomy - like any other criminal. Just because it is called a corporation does not mean that it is anything more than an ongoing criminal conspiracy / Ponzi scheme. Don’t let the suits and MBAs fool you.

No, I did not reiterate it - I stated that I was (1) unaware of any specific mother problem when I made the reference, which is true, (2) that everyone has had problems and that it in no way provides an excuse for one’s personal conduct, which is also true, and (3) that it was not possible, given pldennisonn’s statements toward me, including his having dragged my name dismissively into a thread in which I had been happy not to participate, for me to care about his problems - which would seem to differ from everyone else’s, including mine, only in his desire to post them on a public Internet board.
No personal offense was intended, or reasonably inferable from my statements, and you can either provide support for your assertion to the contrary or withdraw it. But, since you have shown the same apparent standards regarding your personal conduct toward persons you may find reason to disagree with as do him and gobear, I frankly don’t expect you to do so.

FWIW, I wasn’t so much offended by Tiny Elvis’s comment as I was amused; I would expect nothing more from him, and I got nothing less. So it goes. Among his criteria for “honor,” as he’s shown time and time and time (and time and time . . . ad infinitum) again, is to make demands on other people’s behavior rather than to lead by example. There are only a few people more willing to take the low road than he is, so why he’s got his thong all in a bunch, I can’t imagine. All it proves is that he’s just as full of shit as the rest of us.
