Today marks 9 years since I was sold my jackboots and became a moderator. With things in my life the way they are, it’s time for me to gracefully step down and accept Moderator Emeritus status.
You were here for me when I lost my wife, Kathy over two years ago. What you might not have heard is that I married the lovely Tanya recently, and in the process gained two daughters and three grandchildren. One of those daughters will always live with us, as she has Cystic Fibrosis. While she is not high maintenance, she does require care. Major progress is taking place on this disease, and I would ask you that if you are considering a donation to a charity, that you consider the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (http://www.cff.org) in your planning. They have been invaluable in helping my stepdaughter through this. When she was born, her parents were told that she probably would not live past age 14. She is now 25 and is very active, holding down a part time job and looking for a boyfriend… Thank you for considering the CFF.
I will still be around. As a '99er I could never leave this fine group of people. I know I have not been the most active Mod, for that I apologize. I have made some lifelong friends here as well. You will see me from time to time, chiming in and letting my opinions run rampant on occasion.
Again, thank you. Love to you all. I’ll leave you with this. Be nice to the mods. They are good people who deserve your support and kindness. We are doing our best in tough situations.
You were a great help and you have nothing to apologize for. I wish the best of luck to you, Tanya, and the family and I hope you enjoy the extra free time you have as a mod emeritus.
Godspeed, my dear, and I hope we see you around here from time to time. As an Emeritus Mod you will still have your spam-killer superpowers and be able to smite the occasional miscreant that crosses your path. You just don’t have to go to all the meetings.
