I have about 4 months before I move to China to start my new job(teaching…see other threads about it).
Anyway, I currently substitute teach regularly, but would like to get a job for the next four months that has more regular hours.
I don’t care too much about the money, but would like to make a pretty good amount. I don’t really have a clue what would be good, though.
Any recommendations of ways to make money or jobs that would be pretty good for such a short time?
Thanks.
You may wish to consider investigating a firm that does overseas business with China or Taiwan. They are typically desperate for a fluent bilingual person.
Local colleges or universities might also have a need for tutoring newly arrived Chinese students in English or students taking Chinese language courses might need it as well.
Proofreading content for a Chinese language publication or printing house is something that a native English speaking person is quite useful at.
I would go to the temp agency. Usually, you can get an okay paying office type 9-5 job. It’s a good way to make a quick buck…one thing though, although it’s not the most honest thing to do…it’s easier (and faster) to get that temp job if you fail to mention that you’ll be leaving in August until anywhere from a month to two weeks before you leave. I was in the same situation one summer when I was leaving for Europe in August and the only people who called me back to give me a job were the ones who I never told about my trip. Good luck!
