I'm new here is this ok

Howdy and hello

Just wondering if my location is all right set at B.F.E. if on the regular boards when people ask I put B.F.E. = nowhere? I just didn’t want to get in trouble so i thought I would ask first

Thanks

What does B.F.E. stand for?

I did a Google and came up with the German Institute for Nutrition.

lol ty for the responses im just going to take it off better safe then sorry. I hope to see you all on the boards

Damn, I thought I knew “where” B.F.E. was. Didn’t we have a thread about this?

Did a search. It’s where Jesus lost his sandels. Search is my friend

Bum f*** Egypt.

Bum from Egypt?

Damn. I never knew the word ‘from’ was offensive.

Wasn’t Jesus from Bethlehem or somewhere else around there? I thought the Exodus happened a long time before Christ, assuming it happened at all.

Why would you get into trouble by saying BFE? Or that BFE = nowhere?

This thread is just confusing.

This is the old “airport code” joke, nice to see you got something from the old jokes home.

At first glance I thought, yeah, sure, okay, but since it’s bound to cause more questions than it’s worth, (like in this thread), let’s not go there.

So the answer is “no.”

For the curious: I found a definition at, of all places, a Glossary of Drywall and Interior Plastering Industry Terms. Search for the word “Egypt”.

Now that somebody was kind enough to give me a hint (…and the password is…“airport”), Google tells me it’s either the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe, or “Beyond Fucking Egypt”.

Eh, Nosferatu, if you really wanna keep it, you can still put it in your profile somewhere, where it’s not sitting out on the front porch waving to passersby, so to speak.

Is this offensive simply because it contains the word fuck?

Derleth - while the word “fuck” can be sometimes used at the board, we try to discourage its overuse. Also I remind posters that The BBQ Pit is supposed to be the forum for discussion of board administration. So the question “Would this be allowed at the board?” is fine for ATMB, but the question “Why won’t you allow it?” should go in The BBQ Pit.

I’m not questioning any mod or decision. I’m just asking for a clarification of policy.

Well, if you read TubaDiva’s post, it’s because it would cause more questions than it’s worth. Probably meaning that it would hijack too many threads into a discussion of “What does ‘B.F.E.’ mean?”

Incidentally, we always just use the word “Bumblefuck*” with no mention of Egypt at all.

*I know this cannot be unacceptable language, because my mother says it.

I just came online and was reading the posts and I can see why it might stir up confusion. Having said that I was laughing so hard at the responses I almost wet myself, thank you all very much. I do not live in B.F.E but I live next door to it. In one thread in the Pit they talk about the Bible Belt. Well, if they live in the Bible Belt I live in the buckle, so directions to my house are go to B.F.E and take a left.

Then you came to the right place! The main reason we turned it down is because of what TubaDiva said and Kat repeated.

With that being said, we still don’t want people to start using “fuck” all over the place.

 Like my new location? I thought it was more fitting…

I tried to put “Remote castle in the Carpathian Mountains”
but the boards thought it was too long I guess and it just said “Remote castle in the Carp” so I changed it to this.
Thanks for the help

Just FYI, I think “Remote castle in the Carp” is rather funny.

Some time back, I laboriously searched a big Nat’l Geo map of Egypt for the fabled town of Bumfuk. I found a wee spot called Buqbuk. Arabic, as you know, is tough to transcribe into the letters used in English. It’s not hard to imagine that the place NG called Buqbuk was spelled Bumfuk on some other map. In any case, the village is a long, long way from anywhere, with no easy way to get there.

So, when somebody says they live out near BFE, it’s waaaaayy out there.
