I did what now?
OP is a shitstain.
The logical conclusion I wanted you all to draw was obviously:
If you do not vote for Herman Cain, it is because you are a terrible racist.
If you do vote for Herman Cain, it is because you are a terrible racist.
Sadly, only a few of you have caught on so far :p;)
Yeah, but ya know, a little Fabreze and you’d never know it was there.
If you guys are so offended by my post, why don’t you point it out to me why I’m wrong/stupid/shitstainish/etc and maybe I can correct my misunderstanding. Or you can just keep calling me names, which won’t have any effect whatsoever.
I already said that there are people who support Herman Cain who are not racists, so if you are one of those people, why are you so upset?
All I am saying is that a racist person can still think positively about individual members of another race, while still maintaining overall negative views about that race. Is that opinion so worthy of your vitriol?
I don’t see it. People likely to vote for Cain generally don’t care whether you think they’re racist.
I was just having a little fun, sorry.
If you had said THIS in your OP, I would’ve 100 percent agreed with you.
The disclaimer in the P.S. is analagous to "I’m not saying ALL black people [insert racist stereotype], but [insert racist stereotype]. If you are black and don’t [insert racist stereotype] then I don’t mean you. " It’s still pretty frigging racist.
I don’t understand how you have arrived at that meaning from my final statement. The point of the P.S. was so that people wouldn’t come on here and try to say that I was of the position that the only reason someone would vote for Cain would be as a cover for their racist sentiments.
I personally don’t hate Cain at all, and of the republican candidates he’s certainly one of the better ones. I accept that there are some legitimate reasons for supporting him. I didn’t want people thinking that the point of this thread was to bash all Cain supporters, so I put the disclaimer at the end. How is this like me saying, “Most black people are thieves. If you are a black person and are not a thief, then I’m not talking to you.”
I’m not even making the claim that MOST Cain supporters are racists who are looking for cover, who think of him as “one of the good ones.” Just that there are some, and it pisses me off. And then it pisses me off more that people try to claim that we are a post-racism society because Cain is now popular in the GOP, etc.
My point, I guess, is that I can’t imagine this post existing when President Obama was running. Matter of fact, I’m pretty sure it didn’t. This, to me, was very much pointed at conservatives and Republicans, using your father (Oy, daddy problems, could I tell you about my father issues.) as an example. The implication being that ONLY Republicans and conservatives would use the vote for an African-American man to hide racist beliefs. Racism exists in all walks of life and political bents. The interpretation of the P.S., to me, was exactly as I posted, covering your ass for painting with a broad brush. May not have been your intention, but that’s what I got out of it.
Throw in punctuation and paragraphs breaks, as needed.
Only Italian racists have white couches.
The point is that if you are a racist, finding one black person you like doesn’t stop you being a racist. Racism is about how you feel about black people in general not how you feel about one black individual.
Haha, no I totally understand where you are coming from. I think there were PLENTY of people who voted for Obama and are also racist. I have heard a lot of people claim that we are not racist in America because we now have a black president. It applied then and it applies now too with Cain.
Sorry if my post seemed extremely anti-conservative or anti-republican. That wasn’t my intention at all.
In fact, I’m a pretty moderate guy, having voted for both Repubs and Dems in the past (though only dems for president so far), Cain actually intrigues me. I think his 9-9-9 plan is terrible for most people as it stands, but if he can rework it, a national sales tax has always been something I’ve supported in favor of a lower income tax.
And, not to get too off topic, as upset I am with my dad for his racist and sexist opinions, we actually have a pretty decent relationship - for what it’s worth.
Yes, but they’re wrapped in plastic.
Careful Nemo… opinions like that will get you called a shitstain around here!
True, but Bricker also insists it’s wrong to classify an Anti-Obama sign that reads “HUSSEIN, GO BACK TO KENYA!” as racist.
:smack: Bricker, please come in here and say it ain’t so. I like you! I don’t want to believe that this is true! Would you really claim that such a sign is not racist??
Just how old are you drewtwo99?
Your anti-racist ranting seems a little over the top.
I suspect your dad is just yanking your chain
I hate plaid couches. They have been pushed upon the American people by the liberal media-upholstery complex and its quest for “diversity”. All those colors mixing together… even entiwining. It’s miscegenation!
Not all racists are white.
It’s true. Some are plaid.
