I’m not even pitting her for her ridiculous views on politics (not that she doesn’t deserve it). I’m pitting her for the stupid “Our blacks are so much better than their blacks” line.

If black people started talking about “our whites” and “their whites”, it would sound ridiculous to everybody. So why is it any different the other way around?
It’s actually worse the other way around, due to history.
But does Ann see any of this? No, of course not. Because she’s a culturally tone deaf idiot who is so assured of her special white place in society that she isn’t even aware of her own mindset and how her statements make that mindset blatantly obvious to thinking people.
As a Democrat, I’m just glad she’s “their Ann” and not “our Ann”.
From what I got of Ann Coulter, she is quite aware of the reaction this will have among Liberals and Conservatives. Kind of her point, and her schtick.
I’m not defending her by any means, as it is still stupid, but I think the point that she’s driving at is that there is a stereotype that blacks are Democrats, whereas Republican blacks are seen as unusual. As such, she concludes that it’s easy for a black person who wants to get into politics to just sort of slip into the Democratic Party because that’s basically the default, whereas it is a statistical anomaly to be a Republican. Of course, the logical breakdown is assuming that going against the grain is because of exceptional merit or intelligence and not for some othe reason like, if I were to hazard a guess in Cain’s case, has nothing to do with the color of his skin and everything to do with his success in business and religious and social views.
Still, it’s a dumb point because it doesn’t pass basic logic, but as someone else said, she’s very much a real life troll, so it’s no surprise that she said it in about the most obnoxious way possible.
I’m surprised this isn’t a zombie thread. I didn’t think anyone had thought about Ann Coulter since 2003. What next? A Good Charlotte renaissance?!? A Dawson’s Creek reboot?
I spent several weeks in NZ during an important soccer tournament, and it took me quite awhile to hear the term “All Blacks” without wincing. In fact it was several days before I understood it not to be a racial reference.
Does starting threads on the trolls around here make them go away?
The advise I mostly see from the folks around here is to ignore the trolls, as they just want the attention. Most people just roll their eyes at the “long timer” trolls trolling in GD or the pit.
I heard the start of that discussion on NPR today, but had to shut the radio off. I don’t like Ann Coulter’s voice or opinions in my head for even a minute.
The funniest part about this sad ass pit’n is that most people here assumed that she didn’t know that the terms, “Our blacks” or “Their blacks” could of be interpretted as politicaly incorrect.
Of course she knew that.
The constant bitch’n is just keeping her relevant.
