I meant it to be about anyone who thinks that their presence on this board is so important as to warrant their own thread. Of course, at the time the whole ___________ incident was still rather fresh, so I guess it kind over.
Either way, this thread is a good example of what I was talking about. We have someone who lurks more than posts and admits that his presence will not be missed. Suddenly he gets all this:
Y’all can glare at me meaningfully as much as possible. That doesn’t make this thread any less of a last minute plea for attention.
Last minute plea or not, I tend to see the posters here as assets to the community. Everyone starts out cool in my book. But if you turn out to be a dick, it doens’t take long in my eyes to see you as an asshat rather than asset.
Hey! The vitriol in this thread needs to be cooled right now. This isn’t the Pit, and nothing AzRaek wrote in his/her OP deserves this type of treatment. We’re not going to have a simple “good-bye” turn into an extension of your Pit thread, Lord Ashtar. You’re welcome to go nurse that puppy along, but don’t make this Part II.
Anyone who wants to keep on bitchin’ about posters saying their farewells can take it to the Pit. Got it?

Not that I think everyone on the board should shut up. We wouldn’t have much of a board then, would we? But when you post very little you definitely lower your chances of making an ass out of yourself.
AzRaek isn’t whoring for attention, she isn’t being snarky and she isn’t being rude. All of the things that she said in the OP were nice things. She was just simply stating that although she loves the SDMB it is time for her to leave it.
I’m envious of you, AzRaek. You’ve been here all these years and probably haven’t ever made a fuss about anything on the boards, never got pitted or made anyone angry. Just because you aren’t one of the few who love to tell stories and humor everyone on the boards doesnt mean you aren’t a Doper! If you ever change your mind, feel free to come back and visit whenever you want.
