I'm not saying it's aliens, but ... it's aliens

Welp, this about wraps it up for the human race I guess. If the Guardian says it, it must be true:

The US has been urged to disclose evidence of UFOs after a whistleblower former intelligence official said the government has possession of “intact and partially intact” alien vehicles.

The former intelligence official David Grusch, who led analysis of unexplained anomalous phenomena (UAP) within a US Department of Defense agency, has alleged that the US has craft of non-human origin.

Information on these vehicles is being illegally withheld from Congress, Grusch told the Debrief. Grusch said when he turned over classified information about the vehicles to Congress he suffered retaliation from government officials. He left the government in April after a 14-year career in US intelligence.

So Bob Lazar wasn’t making stuff up after all? :upside_down_face:

(I’m currently reading David Darlington’s Area 51: The Dreamland Chronicles – what a cast of characters!)

So now DoD and Congress are in on the conspiracy. Gonna be bad, very, very bad.

One thing we can know for sure: if this information exists, nobody told Trump. Otherwise we would all know it by now.

A former intelligence person, or so we are told, in an interview with alternative news source NewsNation, said he saw some information, no actual UFOs, just basically gossip. Cleared for release by the Dept. of Defense, which just means his statements contain no classified information.

This story is being used to fill up the 24hr news cycle and get clicks. Bob Lazar was making shit up, and so is this guy, David Grusch. The story moved soo fast and made so many turns that it can’t have been made up by humans, must be aliens.

Here’s another article about the same guy.

They go to great lengths to play up his credentials as a military guy, including multiple photos of him in uniform. It reads like it was written by a not very well trained AI.

David Grusch is 36 years old. We are told that he is a decorated combat officer who served in Afghanistan, and had a 14 year career in US intellegence. Must have started training when he was 12 years old.

I’m under the impression that that Debrief piece is the original source the others are quoting. And not that I actually believe the story, but I thought it might have some legs due to the relative respectability of The Debrief. More than willing to be disabused of that notion, of course.

XKCD weighs in today:

I wonder if this is coincidence, a long-existing comic he had standing by to deploy whenever the daily news aligned with it, or is it … aliens?

Mrs. solost has believed for awhile now that aliens have been visiting us. She’s called me ‘closed-minded’ for not believing myself. She sent me a link to a nymag.com Intelligencer article yesterday on this, which was probably also taken from the Debrief piece.

Thing is, like Randall Munroe, if I saw promising enough evidence I’d do a 180 as well.

Yeah me too. IMO:

  1. Are “they” out there in the Universe? Certainly.
  2. Are “they” life, intelligent life, spacefaring intelligent life? Certainly, probably, maa-aaybe.
  3. Are “they” visiting Earth now? Fugeddaboudit.

Randall also addressed my point #3 a decade (!) ago:

RFK Jr. is all in on this latest revelation of aliens in our midst.

We haven’t heard about these vehicles before now, because the military was having too much fun racing around the desert in them.

Resistance is Futile.

One can be an Air Force officer, in intelligence, and in Afghanistan all by the age of about 23. And all at the same time.

His superficial biography is plausible enough. You just have to understand it doesn’t say all that much. For example, the shadow box (with military ribbons on display, from the link @Llama_Llogophile posted above) look plausible enough for someone with a 14-year career in the Air Force, and that’s not even on the “high end” of what might be plausible for someone to earn. The Air Force is notorious for handing out awards like business cards at a convention for business card manufacturers.

ETA: And I see only one picture of him in uniform, one which I have seen countless time. I see the same picture posted by anyone who has ever spent five minutes tucked away on a FOB (usually a very large FOB, with Pizza Hut and McDonalds on it) in Afghanistan or Iraq. They can’t wait to show their drinking buddies from college who don’t know any better how “cool” and “tactical” they are. I myself have such a photo.

I think this is about coyote trucks confiscated at the border.

Well, as an alien who is currently and clandestinely studying the human race through the use of social media, I can say our technology is far better than yours, so you have no crashed or intact star ships of ours. In fact, we find the assertion insulting.

There are plenty of active duty military working in intelligence (Defense Intelligence Agency).

The government is still hiding the secret car that runs on water and I hear they now have a working Face/Off machine too.

Based on the Grusch revelations about alien “vehicles”, I was thinking of something like this.

Hey, I didn’t give you permission to post my picture! :smiling_imp:
