I'm outta here - Dreams do come true !

Time to leave you, Dopers. I know I really haven’t posted much, as I have much more fun reading what you write. Just throwing in an occasional reply seemed to work for me. But, my membership is expiring in one week, and I’ve decided not to renew. As a few of you know, I am a bass player for a well known punk - garage band. I was picked to fill in when their founding bass played (AK) passed away in July 2004. I recieved a call last night to pack my stuff and be in LA on Tuesday to reherse as second bass for a major concert on Dec. 20, and then on to NYC to close out the tour on Dec. 27. I have also been asked to think about a national tour for 2010. This, along with my already busy studio work simply will not allow me much free time, so I bid you farewell, Dopers. Great bunch here.
RIP, Arthur my friend. Thanks for the ride.

Big time congratulations! I wish you happiness!

Congrats! A band I’ve heard of! That’s huge!

Good luck!

Your realize that you can still post without re-upping your membership, right? Post from the road!

Do we get to automatically be your groupies when you hit the big time?

Waaaaaait a second. Well known punk band, founding bass player with the initials of “AK” died in July of 2004…YOU’RE IN THE FUCKING NEW YORK DOLLS?!?! You’re Arthur Kane’s replacement? Holy shit.

That is so fucking awesome. Great wishes to you and much love to your band. Come back and visit any time.

Thanks.
Just to avoid any confusion, Sami Yaffa is still the main bass player. I am there in the event he is not able to perform. I still reherse with them, and I also do a soundcheck prior to the show.

This statement does nothing to lower my level of being impressed. That’s just so cool.

Congrats.

Very cool!
Congratulations!

Grats! I hope the tour is awesome!

Although I know nothing of that type of music, I am very glad that you are leaving for a great reason - nice to know somebody’s dreams are working out. Have a lot of fun!

Congratulations!

Though I for one would be very interested if you did an “Ask the musician in a well-known rock band on tour” thread–I’ve seen plenty of small indie shows as an audience member, but I’d be interested in getting perspectives from someone on the other side of the monitors.

Seconded.

Wow! Eat up the experience. Savor it and enjoy, while being a rock star still feels all fresh and new to you.

i’m glad you are going places.

best of luck, and smooth traveling.

Live the dream sir, enjoy ever moment of it, and remember us fondly.

Only if you choose not to have a self flagellating, albino Doper track him down and convince him to stick with Mad Juana. Honestly Dan Brown was nearly right, however the world is secretly controlled by a Doper conspiracy.

As noted, you don’t need to subscribe or pay to post here anymore - but I’m glad to hear you’ll be so busy. Congratulations on scoring such a great gig, and feel free to drop by and let us know how it’s going. You don’t have to punk out on us completely. Best of luck!
