I'm REALLY awake - An insomniac MMP

Up, caffeinated, off to irk again.

Up and caffeinated - coffee is good this morning.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving; my daughter did just about everything, due to my vision problems, and it all tasted great! I did have to work yesterday, but at least I got my annual rating and got a highly successful (not the best, but just below it; it works for me, esp. considering what an off year I’ve had!). Cataract surgery (left eye!) is at 8 AM Monday; I should be back at work on Wednesday (I see the doctor on Tues. am)

Glad to know folks are still around; I can well understand being busy!! Rosie’s .sig for all - sorry to miss the ferry story next Monday, but I’m sure we’ll get one eventually. And yay for BooFae - busy gearing up for the Royal Wedding, no doubt! ducks LOL On a serious note, it was very touching that William gave Kate Diana’s engagement ring (that’s a beautiful ring!!).

Enjoy your weekend, all.

Sorry you have to wait to see the Rosebuds, rosie. But thanks for hosting us anyway!

We’ll remember to think of you at 8:00 on Monday, tarra. Hope everything goes extra-smoothly.

Too bad about the bambilance duty, Bobbio. I know I miss hearing the stories; can’t imagine what it’s like to have to miss out on the real thing. :frowning:

Awake, but not ready to be up and at 'em yet. Kept waking up last night after going to bed much too late. I blame knitting.

Hugs.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Sneakin’ in a post from mom’s place before [del]the vandal hoarde[/del] family descends upon the place.

Annie it’s ok. MBG is our backup <snerk> butt <snerk> snerker. We have plans for such things. Otherwise there would be no one to say <snerk> butt <snerk> and that would be tragic!

Rosie sorry the trip is postponed but best to be safe. I’m sure you shall regale us rightly anyways.

Herbs thoughts and prayers will be with you Monday mornin’. I’m sure all will go well.

BBBobbio sorry the bambilance shift didn’t go well. I, too, miss the tales. Hopefully you’ll be back on regular duty soon.

Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, wedgies, how you doin’s as needed.

Now I must get back to duty before I’m in trouble with sis.

Later Y’all!

You can say that from a position of safety behind that screen, young lady…but I will still be here when you come out of surgery!

Good luck for Monday, I am sure it will go very well.

Off for a dip in the bath and then out for a meal with friends. And we’ve had snow too, how exciting is that?

Morning! I have had my bacon and egg sandwich and my quad, venti, non-fat latte and now I am headed to go Christmas shopping. mr ems ran to work for a couple of hours so I am going to grab the stuff for him while he is out then we are both going to brave the crowds later. Fun!

I had a rather late start this morning and have just now sat down with my first cup of coffee.

We need to run to the butcher shop today to pick up some steaks and chicken boobies. We’re celebrating a friend’s birthday, and the hostess asked us to pick up the meat.

It’s cold outside, but most of the snow is gone. There is still the odd patch in garden, but the roads are bare. Temps are supposed to warm up to the 40s today!

Oh for crying out loud, just get one of those inflatable donut things and quit whining like a little girl… :stuck_out_tongue:

(worried now that **BBBobbio **will, in fact, move to my area and I’ll live to regret those words… )

I’m taking a break. I de-leafed the front lawn and pushed over a tree. When I pulled the vac cart into the woods to dump it, I braced myself on a small tree, and it immediately fell over. I’m hoping it was already dead and that I haven’t developed a super-power. Anyway, I’m taking a break before attacking the back yard, which is a much bigger job. But I want to get it done before Tues when the rain is supposed to move in.

Taz is in *The List *again - he peed on FCD’s side of the bed yesterday. I’ve been told it could be a sign of infection. Or he’s just being a brat. Either way, I’m sick and tired of laundering the comforter and bedspread over and over again. He was locked out of the bedroom last night and all day today. I’ll probably call the vet on Monday… Stoopit cat.

Daughter and dad are out looking at a few more houses right now. She and I sat down and looked at her budget and there’s no way she can afford the house she wants - she’d have absolutely no cushion, no savings, and very little for groceries. So they’re looking at less pricey places today.

She’d mentioned she wanted a friend to live with her and share the expenses, but said friend is another in the mold of her ex and the 2 preceeding boyfriends - he’d dropped out of high school, tho he did get a GED. He doesn’t drive, and while he does live on his own, he has a menial, low-paying job. He’d like to get into criminal justice or become a lawyer, but he has no idea how and no way to pay for tuition. :smack: We’ve made it quite clear that we’re against such an arrangement and she is not happy right now. Too bad. We didn’t speak up about our misgivings over the ex, and we’re not making that mistake again. If she wants to live with him, it’ll be without our assistance.

Kids - sheesh…

Just looked out front - stoopit leaves falling where I just mulch/vac’d. grrrrrrrr I love the cooler weather, but I hate the %#@&#@(^ *leaves.

Anybody wanna mulch/vac my back yard? I’ll feed you dinner!! Anyone? Anyone??

Invalid ring. (Yes, I do work for a medical supply company. Why do you ask?)

Angel’s on that list as well. She chewed through the cord on the computer mouse. Hubby had to go get a wireless one to replace it, with strict instructions to the kids that they have to put it up out of her reach once they’re done on the computer.

And I quit for today. I did half of the back yard. I need to fill the gas can, and I just don’t feel like driving the 3 miles right now. So I quit. It’ll take me maybe an hour and a half tomorrow to finish. I’ll have to do this again in a week or so - there are still a lot of leaves in the trees, but we’ve learned the hard way that too thick a blanket on the ground is very tough to deal with. I’d rather spend two relatively easy weekends cleaning up rather than one weekend from hell.

Supper might be hot dogs and beans tonight. I was going to thaw some shrimp, but I forgot. Maybe I’ll get the shrimp out for tomorrow. Kinda makes me wish I had leftover turkey…

I think I’ll do my online jigsaw puzzle, then assume the knit position. One good thing, I was thinking today was Sunday, but no - that’s still ahead. So yay for that!

I’m making tofurky pot pies this afternoon. The filling is tasty, if a little sweet. Is sugar added to everything these days?

I’ve also been knitting and hope to finish this shawl by tomorrow. Just 17 rows to go!

So… Does it mean anything that just as I was reading swampy’s admonition about putting feet on the furniture that I was putting my feet on the furniture? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, anyways, Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

We had a very nice dinner cooked by TVMom and I made a cheesecake for dessert.

Glad you had a nice TG, Sticky. And, yes,** swampy** is going to…well, I probably shouldn’t say…when he sees where your feet have been. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s see now… little brother and I spent several hours cleaning out the basement. Took two trips to drop off recycling (we didn’t want to hold onto it until Thursday when they’ll pick it up here) and one to Best Buy to drop off various electronic stuff (you can drop off all manner of electronics: computer and phone stuff, but also DVDs, CDs, cords, rechargeable batteries, and other stuff I’m forgetting. They have bins on the way in for small stuff; larger stuff gets a tag on the way in and goes to customer service.

Now I’m knitting. I’m five inches into the first of 2 longish handwarmers. Yay! (Go, Shadow, by the way… Guess I should go see if I can tell what you’re working on.)

So much for the excitement around here, right now.

Hugs.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! It’s cold out there! I just brought in my spider plants for the winter. Taz is happy - he’s got his salad bar back! I’ve got to find a home for all these plants now. I may take one of the smaller ones to my office.

Time to log off and assume the knitting position - I’ve got about 8 more inches left on my niece’s afghan. I’ll be glad to be done with it. The pattern is a 12 row repeat, and it’s really boring now. Altho I occasionally make a mistake and it’s a challenge to fix it 2 rows on when I catch it…

Anyway, happy Saturday evening, all!

I had a nice Thanksgiving over at Irish Brother’s Dad’s house. I’m now having a not-so-nice post-Thanksgiving Some Kind of Sick. I’ve been slamming tea and chicken ramen because that’s pretty much all I can eat right now. Also there’s no food in the house. Culinary Boy is passed out on the couch and Computer Boy is playing SNES so there’s no getting either one of them out to de sto’ right not. :frowning: I guess I’ll have to go tomorrow morning if I feel better. Even if I don’t. There’s no food in the house except the Chinese food The Boys just got that I don’t feel right eating because a) I have a sore throat and b) I didn’t put any money in the pot for it.

Rambling is not a good sign. I think I need to smash another pack of ramen and fight the urge to clean up. I’m sick, dammit! The Boys can clean up!

I am done with Christmas shopping! Whoohoo!

We are now headed out for early supper as neither of us ate lunch today - mr ems got stuck at work and I just wanted to finish the shopping stuff - then we are headed to the local hockey game. Big charity night so it will be a big crowd. Later!

Up early, on purpose. I’ve loved sleeping in these last few days, but I’ve got to get up at 5 tomorrow for work, so I made myself get up at 5:45 when I heard the dog stirring. She’s been out and she’s snoring at my feet now. Oddly enough, she’s been very affectionate since Bernie was put down - wonder if she’s sucking up so she’s not next…

It’s a cold morning. Glad I brought my plants in yesterday. The cats are glad, too - Taz has his salad bar back! I need to find homes for them all till spring, then everything needs to be watered. And one needs to be transplanted - I need to buy a new planter and get some potting soil.

Before the day is out, I’ll finish the de-leafing of the back yard and cook the shrimp that I left sitting on the counter all night. It was still partially frozen this morning - I keep the house on the cool side. Plus it was a 5# block of shrimp, frozen in water. Anyway, it’s in the fridge now, till I steam the whole batch. Or maybe I’ll set a few aside for scampi…

No other real plans for the day - probably knitting and (by default, not by choice) football watching. I also need to make up a week’s worth of sammiches for work - it makes my mornings easier - grab a sammich and some pretzels and go.

Time for caffeine. Happy Sunday to you all!

Morning Mumpers. I’m caffeinating and surfing before I go and get deheathanated. I hope I’m off to day. And why is it that my Facebook friends post “I’m soooo bored!” in their statuses, but don’t want to clean my apartment for me? It would be something to do!

Sorry about the sick, Spaz.

Sorry you can’t do the bambilance runs yet, BBBobbio.

Looks like everyone is sleeping in today. I’m on my way out to finish de-leafing the back yard. yay…

I’ve been up for hours, it’s the rest of you that were sleeping in!

I’ve got things to do around the house today. I may leave the house to run an errand or two, but the chances of that are low.
