I'm REALLY awake - An insomniac MMP

Gawd! Some days I just want to smack the idiots who run the installation and hospital where I work upside the fucking head!

They have “graciously”:mad: given us a two hour delay for reporting to work.

Um, the highways are literal ice rinks, the State Patrol has asked everyone not to drive, and there are abandoned cars all over the roads.

Fuckity-fuck. These people piss me right the hell off.

I have plenty of leave and normally I’d say stuff it, but I’m stuck with office birthday bitch duties this month and today I was supposed to bring the fucking cake in.

Arrrghhhh.

see, this is why I hate snow!

I was going to say something like “and Boise is going out of business” or “Hey, even cities need a day off”, but I thought better of it

Gah! It’s Tuesday? Wha happpen to yesterday? (bad elderly oriental lady’s voice)

Sitting on my ass has been the goal of the morning. I succeeded!

I did do one thing, though. I windexed the sliding glass door. This involved sweeping the crud off the outside, too. Oh, and I changed the sheets on Dad’s bed.

More stuff will get done. I did good yesterday. I dusted and vacuumed Dad’s rooms, and cleaned both bathrooms.

ETA: It’s 80° here already, and muggy. I am so sorry for y’all enduring a frickin’ blizzard!

Mundane and pointless comment.

My newest kitten, Pancakes, watches TV a lot. She was just watching the weather report rather intently, I wonder if she has plans for the day?

One more day before Thanksgiving!

I haven’t done ANY Christmas shopping. I know what I’m getting everyone - I only buy for three people - but I need to go buy. I’m not going out on Friday. At all.

Actually most of the gift for my sister is going to be some custom printed canvas bags.

Coyote maybe kitteh is checkin’ out the long range forecast in preparation for Black Firday. She wants to know how to dress to get to all those early specials!

Ok, cornbread is baked, I has lunched and taken the surprise pie to my friend who was much pleased. He said he might be nice and take it with him to his folks’ house for Turkey Day or he might give in and eat it. When I got back to da cave there was a message from him about havin’ a big ol’ hunk of it already so I guess his sharin’ gene did not kick in. Good for him! Oh and I also made the (YUCK!) cranberry sallit.

It’s 80 degrees Amurrkin here too Rebo! Taters hope you made it to work safe and the idiots who decided not to close are all sittin’ on the side of the road with beat up vehicles but not hurt cause well, I wouldn’t wish that on even them.

Ok, off to, umm… do sump’n I reckon.

I opted to not go in. Screw it and the birthday cake. The cake will still be good tomorrow. It’s been sitting in my car out in the garage, so I’m sure it’s pretty much near frozen.

I’m going to make some hot chocolate, and then plug my laptop back in. For whatever reason, I can’t connect wirelessly with it, so I’m going to have plug my network cable into the laptop.

I’m here, and finally working on the job I actually get paid for! I was late this morning cause hubby and I had to go visit the vampires. My company does a health screening every year, and if we don’t have it done, our insurance goes up $75/month. But it’s been really instrumental in catching a lot of problems, so I’m good with it. Then, since we were fasting, Hubby and I hit IHOP before I came to work. Yummolicious.

Since I’ve been here, I’ve handled tech support duties and getting all of our information together for Friday work. Now I’m finally listening to calls. Joy.

Oh, and it’s over 70 degrees here. Not sunny, but warm.

Sorry for the snow. We don’t get snow here and I am ever so grateful for that after many winters in Wyoming.

Phone interviews went well today - one cancelled on me but no big deal. I have one more later this afternoon and then no more til next week. Yay!

Turkey is out and thawing ready for Thursday. Yes I know fresh is better but we are deep frying that bad boy so it will be good.

Dinner tonight may be chili…or pasta bake and I jsut not sure yet

She always dresses in fur. And she better not be hitting the Black Friday sales, she doesn’t have any money and I’m not paying for it. I better hide my debit card.

She just wanted to get you a prezzy. Maybe a sweet little mousy you could chase.

It’s 18 degrees Merikan here, but not precipitating at the moment.
I believe it did precipitate a little last night, as there is some sort of white substance on the lawn. Maybe a half an inch.

Rosie, I saw you there, and said yes. Be advised, however, that I only read Facebook about once a day, if that, and post maybe once a month. It is nice to see what y’all are up to however. Unless you wanna talk about Farmville.

I need to make Jambalaya again soon. I’ve been making it for 40 years now and lately it’s been kinda meh, so I was reading some recipes and found one where they use bacon! [spock]Interseting[/spock]

I also have the kind of insomnia where I go immediately to sleep, and sleep for 2 or 3 hours, then wake up. Usually 'cause my hip hurts. Then I lay awake for varying amounts of time. Sometimes just minutes, sometimes hours. I hates it!

Mundane and pointless rant:
I got the urge to get my old Seiko Bell-matic watch cleaned and oiled last week, (it stops), so I took it to the jewelers and they sent it to the watch specialist. Yesterday they called and said that he, the specialist, wants $250.00 to make my Seiko right! Now, I bought this watch in Hong Kong back in 1969, and it has some sentimental value to me, but, Not $250.00 worth! Sheesh! {/M&P rant]

Hugs, salmons, kisses, etc.

The sweet N.O.T. pies received rave reviews. Go Me!

Just thought I’d brag.

OK, I’m here, finally. And the Blackberry is deader than my old phone - its battery lost half its charge just sitting in my car, turned off, for 10 hours. So I’ve got daughter’s old Nokia and she set it up for me exactly like my old one was - yay for that.

Off work till Monday. Yay for that too! I ran by the grocery on the way home and among other things, got some ground beef to make a meatloaf, plus tomorrow, I’ll make sketty sauce. And pies. And deviled eggs. Busy day ahead.

Sad day ahead, too. **FCD **is taking Bernie to the vet for the last time. I know it has to be done, but I’m still a mess over it. There was a vet on Fresh Air today talking about elderly dogs and he provided a link to a site with a list of questions. Apparently, dogs suffer from a type of dementia or Alzheimer’s. From my answers, it’s clear Bernie has several of the symptoms, along with being blind, partly deaf, somewhat arthritic, and occasionally bleeding. So while intellectually, I know it’s the right thing to do, emotionally, it’s still hard. She’s been part of the family for over 14 years… :frowning:

Sorry for being a downer.

Sorry you’re going to lose Bernie, FCM. :frowning:

Wow, Bumba, $250.00 for that? Way too much, I’d say.

Glad you chose to stay home, Taters. Seems much safer.

Today was the first day that it’s really been chilly when I left work. But no snow yet. We haven’t even had snowflakes, which is really unusual for this late in the year. But it’s coming soon, I’m sure.

Have had tacos, peas and corn, and grapes for dinner. There will also be caramel apples.

I would have taken the extra pie off your hands, swampy. Just sayin’. :stuck_out_tongue:

Back later.

GT

{{{MOOOOOOM}}} so sorry about Bernie. I remember meetin’ her and bein’ allowed to give her butt skritches. It’s tough but y’all are doin’ the right thing. She had a long, happy and much loved life.

Speakin’ of deviled aigs, nobody was plannin’ on bringin’ any on Thursday so Ima make ‘em. I mean, no deviled aigs! Unthinkable! Did I mention I have forbidden green bean casserole? Really. When asked by somebody what to bring I say no gree bean casseroles are allowed. I’ll deal with cranberry sallit (YUCK!) but draw the line at green bean casserole. I have no worres about somebody showin’ up with [del]fart blossoms[/del] brussels sprouts because I know that nobody showin’ up likes the things. One cannot be too careful about green bean casserole however.

Have I mentioned I don’t like green bean casserole and won’t allow it in da cave?

Taters, make sure the stupid switch to turn on the wireless is on. That has bit me in the butt a few times.

I highly doubt they are paying you enough to risk life and limb on the way to work. Staying home was the right call.

FCM, I’m so sorry. Hugs to you and the family and a final scritch for Bernie.

Vorlon, the switch is on, but my daughter’s boyfriend made our network “secure”. The last time I brought it home, I didn’t realize he had done that, so I didn’t have the stupid network password. Anyway, I must have done something stupid, because now, I’m not even given the option to log on with a password.

Doesn’t matter, I couldn’t get crap done anyway. I spent hours trying do stuff but my connection to work’s secure network kept timing out.

Chili was decided as tonights supper. Easy quick and all I really have the energy for. Tomorrow we will grill sirloins and roast some veggies. Turkey is thawing nicely for Thursday and I ran and got vino and beer tonight as there is no way I am going anywhere near a store for the next few days. Black Friday scares me. A lot.
