I would start with the Dark and only if I pigged out enough to eat them all and I still wanted more would I turn to the milk. Generally, this is my approach to Halloween or Easter candy three days later there is only milk left and a month later it’s all gone.
I prefer milk chocolate, but sometimes it’s too sweet (I can’t believe I just typed that).
I agree on Hershey’s kisses, anything Hershey’s, really. They bought Cadbury and managed to screw it up here in the US. My Canadian friend brings me the real stuff when she visits.
My mom informed me that M&M’s aren’t that good anymore, either. More sugar than chocolate.
I think so too, but I know it’s because I test positive on the propylthiouracil test as a super taster. Apparently dark chocolate isn’t nearly as bitter to people with normal taste buds. You may be too: how many of these questions do you answer yes to? The only ones I don’t are the three about cilantro, cake, and cream.
I don’t use milk that’s gone bad in anything else so I don’t want it my chocolate either. I’ll take one piece or maybe two if there’s enough but I don’t want you to see me hogging the dark chocolate. I’ll do that when you leave the room.
Of course some us like bitter especially when mixed with just a wee bit of sweet.
That “not a scientific questionnaire” would label me a “non-taster” and predicts that I rarely fuss about my food … but I fuss quite a bit. I would avoid the milk chocolate, for one thing.
When I was younger I thought of dark chocolate as a special treat. Now I tend to avoid it, milk tastes way better for my aged taste buds. Though dark has its place if accompanied by other flavours, such as peppermint.
Chocolate snobs have been mocking me for years due to my preference for milk chocolate. They can kiss my rosy Irish arse…in the infrequent hours when I crave it, gimme that extra cream and sugar.
