When MH370 first disappeared, I eagerly followed the news and was waiting for the sudden discovery and flood of evidence…which never happened. For weeks we’ve been hearing “Breaking News! New evidence (maybe) found!” followed by “We didn’t find anything meaningful.”, followed a few hours or days later with another breaking news bulletin that something else might have been found but we don’t know a lot about it, but this time it might be different!" repeat ad nauseam.
Don’t turn on CNN. I used to watch them in the morning to get an overview of the news, now I don’t bother because this is all they talk about. The one story with absolutely zero information to report is the one story CNN reports on 24/7. That’s how reporting is done on Bizarro planet.
I’m starting to think that the Malaysian government knows exactly where that plane is, what happened to the people on it, and why, and keeps throwing the rest of us off track for reasons we may never know.
Is it bad to wish that Ted Turner still owned CNN? Because this shit wouldn’t be happening.
Yeah, I was sick of this shit by the second day. Posted as much on my FB page saying the media should be legally required to admit they were talking out of their asses.
And I’m still going with the Zombie Plague/Diverted to Diego Garcia theory.
This just in, news about the missing plane. Latest reports indicate that the reporting of information that could have indicated the sighting of a plane have now been expanded to say it could have been something that is not a plane at all. This breaking news is an exclusive. Now, more from our special reporter on the possible sighting of what may very well be a plane but probably isn’t. Fellow Imbecile, what about this shocking latest development?
Same thing happened with TWA800. Weeks of news flash special reports, breaking away from regular coverage to listen to some guy say “we found two chair cushions and a suitcase handle.”
Had a spirited discussion with a colleague a few days ago. They were angry that this story is getting ALL of the media attention and couldn’t fathom why The landslide in Washington State is not getting much television coverage.
It seems to me ( and I shared this with my friend ) that the theory of " If it leads, it bleeds" of local television seems not to be applicable this time. First of all, no station is going to be showing clear High Definition footage of locals and volunteers pulling maimed filthy rotting body parts out of the 30 foot deep wall of muck and torn up massive trees. " This is Chip Torn on location as local barber Mike McKutch removes the legs and lower torso of what appears to be a nine year old girl from the devastation. So, Mike, how do you feel right now? Here, let’s just wipe the cascade of fresh vomit from your beard and shirt so we can interview you…there you go! So, Mike, how did it feel as we watched you remove that body part? "
No. Not really this. See, Seattle bleeds and cannot lead. They can only dig so deeply into the terrible images and horrific pain the locals are feeling. The networks will get the kind of backlash they got in Newtown, which after a year was posting “Stay the FUCK off my Lawn, My Sidewalk, my Town” ( sic ) signs to let the media know to be very much not present. The local news knows better than to exploit. These are their people, they’re walking a tightrope.
The airliner mystery is devoid of gore and chock-a-block full of, well, mysterious gummint bullshitting, double-talk, lack of data and terror of the unknown coupled with fear of the ocean. Which, as though we needed to be reminded, is just very immense. As in we- are- so- damned- small- and- lack- control- of- our- environment- even- though- we- like- to- think- we- can- control- our- environment- and- wrap- up- a- complex- story- with- many- variables- in- 55- minutes- just- like- NCIS- can immense.
Yes, I’m annoyed. And I say this as someone who loves watching Air Crash Investigation, and who was initially relieved at having something new to focus on that didn’t involve looking at Sergei Lavrov’s face. We don’t know anything, and the media keeps recreating “breaking stories” to tell us that we don’t know anything, or we might soon know something, maybe. CNN actually had a “developing story” a couple days ago that informed us that a Boeing 777 will crash when it runs out of fuel. Oh, really? 3 weeks and that’s what you give us? What’s next, a story on how the wings falling off will affect the plane’s aerodynamic capabilities?
If they actually find something from the plane, I’ll get interested again, but at this point it’s gotten ridiculous.
