I'm sorry, but the Scion XB is an ugly car

It’s a 1984 Chevy Astro. Eh. Decent city car, but I’d rather have my Matrix than a B any day.

Don’t you guys really think this belongs in MPSIMS? I mean, it’s a pretty mundane and pointless vehicle.

No disrespect to anyone who disagrees, but I love my Scion to death and very much enjoy driving something that isn’t a clone of every other car out there right now. I never wanted to look like everyone else I like to think that Johnny 5 (okay, yes, I named my car) feels the same way.

The Honda Element, on the other hand, is pretty dreadful.

Huh? They seem to look equally ugly to me…

The Element has a more curved roof, and also has the ugly grey chunks all over it (heheh, not car-language-savvy I’m sure you can tell), is bigger and clunkier looking and costs a great deal more. Just personal preference, I guess.

Yeah, it sure is ugly.

But I want one.

I think the Xb looks cool and utilitarian - kind of the “car brand” car that everyone might drive in some futuristic, socialist scandinavian metropolis.

But for a car that seems to have made its target market 19-year-old asian males, I’ve never seen anyone other than frumpy middle aged people driving them. Why?

I hereby pit the sorry POS that is called Scion XB!!!1!!!

just wondering if they’ll move this wandering thread again

they never did move to MPSIMS

I’m thinking it might qualify as a Great Debate as well.

To me it looks like something that Russian car designers would have drooled over during the last decades of the cold war. :dubious:

When Vynce and our cousin Joey were little guys, they had these things that melted plastic plates and sucked them into car shapes. These new cars (this one, aztec, element) look like they too were manufactured by seven and eight-year-old boys with vacuform machines. Man are they all so damn ugly.

On a positive note, I have a feeling they’ll provide some entertainment over the next four months in snowy areas. Eight inch ground clearance is wicked useful for places like New Hampshire.

The Scion xB is the car that relieved the Aztek of the title “Ugliest thing on wheels.” It’s just so boxy and utilitarian. I’ll bet the design model was built with Legos.

Yeah, well, that’s probably what Molly Ringwald thought in Pretty in Pink when she made that horrible, horrible dress.

The xB looks only slightly better.

So that is what I saw in the grocery parking lot.

It IS an ugly duckling but maybe it has some practical features. It looked roomy inside!

Indeed, it is. Mr. Bunny is about 6’5 and this is the first car we’ve ever owned that he’s been comfortable in. It’s also affordable (for a coupla working kids like us in late 20’s, early 30’s) and gets fantastic mileage.

I’m actually extremely relieved that so many people still hate it. Here in Reno for some reason ever since we bought ours, it’s like a freakin’ country Scion jamboroo out there every time I go driving. I usually see at least 10 other ones on the road on my way to whatever destination, I was becoming concerned!

The funniest times are when I end up with one right behind me at a light, I think everyone must assume we know each other or we’re a parade or something.

Okay, will all the owners of PT Cruisers, Avalanche, Aztek, Scion, Yugo, and all other vehicles of questionable esthetics please stand up, hold hands and repeat after me:

If you don’t like it, don’t BUY one!

Honestly. I don’t go around telling you your baby/puppy/grandma is ugly. But there’s something about this board…every four weeks or so, my vehicles get slammed.

 ok, I won’t

y’know what tho? a lot of threads state opinions about things. You like the xB - that’s great. Use it in good health. But don’t deny me my opinions!

Mercy killings?

Damn, man, you keep slamming those cars, you’re going to be throwing sparks off the pavement as you drive.
