Hey y’all! I haven’t been posting because I’m too busy! But it’s mostly a good busy. I’m really enjoying working at MetLife, and now that I actually know what the job is about I’m really coming into my own. There are occasional moments when my 10 year absence from work life lead to a bit of awkwardness, but very rarely. I feel like I’m mostly rocking it.
The “running a household where both parents work” thing is a little more challenging - cramming in all the stuff I used to spend 40+ hours getting around to each week is tough sometimes. But having my mom work as our nanny is dynamite and takes a lot of the pressure off.
It’s surprising to me how much of the challenges people run into in the office are really just personality clashes. I guess my naive self expected people to be all, “Business business business … numbers,” and really there’s an awful lot of “He’s ALWAYS like this,” and “Can I finish my sentence please?” and so on.
I don’t mind it - it’s an interesting challenge. It’s just funny to me that no matter how much actuarial science or ROI equations are involved, we’re all just smart chimps jockeying for position in the troop, really.
