I swear on preview it worked. Gah!!?!!
What the heck does the orange pencil mean?

If you quote the full post directly above your reply, it will automatically delete the quote and put that orange pencil there.
Oh, thanks. Now I know.
How do I stop it from sending me a email everytime someone replies to one of my posts?
Go to the thread; just below the last post in the thread, there are several buttons: Share, Bookmark, Flag, and Reply, and below that is a pulldown button that’s probably set to something like “Normal” or “Tracking.” That button gives you several options for how often you’re notified about new posts to the thread; pull that button down, and select “Muted” (or another option that doesn’t include you being directly notified about posts or replies to you).
Go to your Profile > Preferences > Emails and turn it off.
You will still receive notifications for topics you are ‘watching’ on your avatar at the top right, but it’s not intrusive (unless you’ve enabled 'live notifications in your browser).
On the upper right corner of your screen is a button with your icon. Click it.
It will open up a window which will have your username in the upper left corner. Click on that.
This will open another window with a list of options. Click on activity.
This will take you to a new screen which will have all of your posts, sorted by which are most recent.
If you want to see the threads you started, there is a list of options on the left side of the screen. Click on topics.
This will give you a list of all of the threads you have ever started, sorted by the ones with the most recent activity on them.
How do I get to the top or bottom of a thread without having to scroll for an hour?
A small box on the bottom right with 2 numbers in it. Click it and it will give you a slider to move up and down the thread.
To get to the top, click on the date at the top of the slider. So on this page, you would click where it says “Jun 22”
Grab the slider to the right of the screen and move it to the bottom or tap the END button on your keyboard. I think in general the idea is that you just trust the software to take you to your last unread post. Jumping to the end of a thread without reading the preceding comments isn’t exactly a behavior that we want to encourage.
Or click HOME on the keyboard.
Similarly clicking on the “1m ago” or whatever the date/time of the last post was at the bottom of the slider will also take you to the end of the thread.
Click the Home key on your keyboard to get to the start of a thread. Click the End key to get to the end. (A tip so you don’t have trouble doing this like I did the first time I tried it: make sure your Number Lock is turned off.)
Cool, thanks @Beckdawrek.
But if I’m on a tablet…?
@Bullitt, there’s a box on the bottom right with 2 numbers in it. Click on it and a slider bar shows up. Go up or down on it.

OK thanks @Beckdawrek, @SCAdian.
Hi! To find out what I can do, say
@discobot display help
.
OK, I said it. The dog barked. Now what? Somehow, I don’t expect saying “help” to be more useful than clicking “help”
