I’d complained about the lack of training at my job, but I still managed to complete every project I was assigned. Still, they let me go this afternoon for ‘poor performance’.
Saves me the trouble of writing the resignation letter I’ve been composing in my head!
See, last Friday I was offered a position in Washington. (You may have noticed the ‘Seattle transportation’ thread a couple of weeks ago.) I accepted by email Friday, received the hardcopy on Monday, and mailed it on Tuesday. I requested next week off so that I could move some stuff up to the house, and at the same time use my ‘use-or-lose’ personal days. I was going to give my notice when I got back. Now I get cash for my personal days (and my vacation, of course) and I’m eligible for unemployment. I’m supposed to start the new job on the first Monday in April.
Thanks, everyone. It sucks that I begged for training and didn’t get it (I was supposed to be assigned a mentor, but didn’t get one for four months – and then I didn’t have all the access I wanted), and I did do everything they assigned to me. But I almost walked out the door in September, and almost resigned in November. I’ve been wanting to get back to Washington for a long time. So the timing is good.
