Interesting video. A sped-up version of “Imagine” and a slowed-down version of “Band on the Run” played together.
I sometimes surf around and look for mashups, just to see what people come up with. They can be pretty creative and/or weird, but they seldom sound as good as the originals.
I’ll agree. The mashup thing started a few years ago. I don’t remember what song it was, but someone took the lyrics from one song and stuck it over the music from another it was pretty good. I remember it was a big enough deal that it even made it onto our local news. Then, people just started sticking songs together. IMO, most ‘mashups’ just sound like two songs being played at the same time and nothing more. Here’s one of the few that actually sounds good to me, but then whoever put this together actually spent some time editing the three songs. Picking apart the lyrics, the music, the videos and reassembling them with some real thought. There’s a huge difference between what this person did and just sticking two random songs into the same audio feed and uploading it to youtube.
I’d be willing to call the person who put this together an artist. In fact, I was about to say that I’d bet they’re a DJ, but I see know from they’re youtube name that they are. Assuming that that’s the person who made it.
