Man, this has to stop somewhere. I just read IMAX theatres are passing up a movie because it mentions evolution. And the Schiavo crowd is beating the drums at every turn. And not 24 hours ago I saw a clip from the new American version of “The Office”, and it’s amazing - the stereotypical American comedic sledgehammer is laying it on really thick and really slow - you’d never guess this is the reincarnation of the cleverest thing to hit television yet.
Damn, why don’t they just split off Jesusland out of the red states, and leave the rest of us alone? We’d continue to subsidize them, maybe even let them keep the flag (people keep thinking it means God Bless Bush, anyway). Please, somebody, Europe maybe, please realize a good half of us here can’t believe it any more than you can. This is like Kin Hubbard but without the wisdom.
Relax! Sheesh! BTW, the Office is made in California, a very blue state.
The sort of Europeans who are dumb enough to worry about stories like this are not worth impressing anyway.
As for Schiavo, frankly I’m glad that we’re having the debate at all. A woman is not her husband’s property nor is a brain-dead person another disabled person. These things need to be hashed out, rather than the casual shrug of resignation to death that seems to be common overseas.
What was the movie? Is IMAX running off on its own weird trip, or is it that they’re afraid of alienating the audience? Not that either way is acceptable to me, but I could dimly understand the motivation behind the latter.

Every damn state is purple.
Wives also make decisions on husbands’ lives as well as vice versa…it’s not a “property” issue…it’s about asserting one’s marital rights.
Not all christians feel the way as “Jesusland” residents do.
Every country has their share of idiots…don’t be embarrassed…be relieved.

Yeah, I know. I’ve calmed down. It was just that it all happened so fast.
The IMAX thing was the second one - they are worried about alienating people. So I hold nothing against them, I’m just sorry that their fear is a reasonable one.
Never mind about impressing Europeans. It’s more like having a sense of what might have been.
Humorously enough, just after writing this I heard about Wolfowitz and Bolton in the news. It just never stops.
