That’s what it sez up at the top of each post new thread page; I’m looking at it right now. Also, Ed’s announcement at the top of each forum about [img] tagging being vorboten is gone, but old threads with [img] links in them still don’t show images.
Probably haven’t gotten around to editing the notice about it (see the bug threads for why it might not be their highest priority right now). It took a day or so for the edit/delete sentences to get the “NOT” added to them, too.
Might be Ed thought it’d been there long enough for everyone to read it.
Actually, it used to say “[img] code is OFF”, back when Ed gave [img] the axe. Since then, I’ve had my eye on that “posts” line way up there to see what was allowed du jour- just in case they came to my senses and turned it back on (a man can dream, can’t he?).
I suppose it’s just another bug and we’re all out of bug spray at the moment.
I remember seeing that the announcement was from 4/28 thru 5/05, so, I think they just left it up for a week. I know Ed only added his part to it a few days ago, but maybe they pulled it after a week anyway.
Nothing like just trying to see if the image tag is back on:
Kat’s correct; fixing the vB boilerplate is on the “honey do” list, but it’s not on the top of the list.
Sorry for your inconvenience; we’ll get things fixed fast as we can.
As for allowing the use of images in the future, as a rule I try not to say “never” (and also try not to say “always,”) but I’m perpetually hopeful that the situation on the board will be such that we can allow the use of more creative things for our members. It’s really up to y’all as to what happens further down the line. Actually it’s up to that lowest common denominator that screws stuff up for everybody; what we can trust them with is what we have to live with here on the board.
So soon as we have a better class of horse’s asses, we’ll see what happens around here. And I’m genuinely sorry that the Teeming Millions are deprived of fun stuff by jerks; you all deserve better.
One thing that would help is if the rule about what is required was on the same page you post from, or at least on the “how to use {img}” page. Then people like me wouldn’t have simply have learned by example, like I did. Once I posted, there were not lack of people who said “we discussed copyright and bandwidth last month.” Exactly zero of that discussion reached me in time.
