Immolating man at Trump trial: what do his pamphlets say?

Indeed. Your “normal” CT’ist wants to continue shouting out the news, so that more may be awakened and at least be prepared to face the calamity. But what if you drift into sincere belief in “there’s no escape, the only answer is be eaten first” territory…

One does get a bit chilled at things like these, many of us can probably tell of one or more crackpot we’ve encountered who we however would never wish to be hurt for/by it.

And yeah…

Three days in the psych ward, and all I got were my new favorite socks.

Quite a take on how mental health is addressed…

RE 3 Days In The Psych Ward

I’m going out on a limb and guessing he’s referring to the 72 hour evaluation period you must be held for after involuntary commitment. During that time, they decide if you are a threat to yourself or others. The system failed here as he didn’t get a therapist, a psychiatrist, medication or anything but new socks when they released him.

Doesn’t seem like he would have appreciated RFK Jr.'s proposal:

After that guy set himself on fire Trump wants more protests.

It would be horrifyingly interesting (or interestingly horrifying) to see hundreds of MAGA cultists lighting themselves on fire.

Often it’s not a failure of the system but a product of civil liberties. If you can’t prove they are a danger to themselves or others it’s damn near impossible to make sure they get the help they require. All they have to say is no. I’ve unfortunately seen it way too many times. Mental healthcare is certainly inadequate in this country but it’s also nearly impossible to help someone who isn’t healthy enough to understand they need help.

Someone above joked about him being Florida man but he did have ties to the area. He had a masters degree from Rutgers. He worked on a congressional campaign in New York. Reading his manifesto makes me think schizophrenia but his illness was apparently pretty recent. 37 is old for the initial onset. Of course it could be something else but I’m sure we will never know for sure.

I think Trump over estimates how many people would show up.

Especially since the last time they showed up, Trump said they got infiltrated by Antifa and tricked.

You’re right that we won’t ever know for sure, but hard drugs can cause severe paranoia. He might have spiraled into a drug addiction.

It’s possible. Could be a combination of things. Maybe he was medicated then went off them recently. An article I read said there was a change in him after his mother died over a year ago.

Let’s not forget what happened when he tried to attract protesters last year.
