Just had chemo this morning, which means I’m pretty much bed-bound all weekend. This sucks because I will be missing the local wedding reception for friends of mine who just married in HI.
Also because it’s boring as hell.
Recommend me new entertainments! Cat pics/gifts/videos, games (free and iPad playable, please), interesting/educational articles, I’m not picky.
Ooooo! Have you see The Hour yet? A BBC show - maybe 10 episodes. Set in a 1950’s UK, they are setting up a news program, even while some sort of clandestine murder conspiracy is happening. Strong women, great characters (well, a couple of episodes in), crackling dialogue. It is what Aaron Sorkin wanted The Newsroom on HBO wanted to be, IMHO. Oh, and great, great music. So far, I have see one intense bit of violence - but it was used a punctuation more than gore.
I also recently watched the old HBO series, Rome - really, really well done, but more violent.
Although if your tummy is already upset, perhaps the violence will just skate on by
The Brink - on HBO; political satire
Blacklist - NBC (?), kinda lightweight crime drama. It’s just fun watching James Spader running circles around everyone.

I just did an amazing one man rendition of a modern mash up of Hamlet and The Book of Mormon. Sadly, my video camera missed it, so I can’t post the video. You’ll have to imagine it.
Sounds dull as hell, right? Well, whoever writes it must be aware of the potential for dullness in the topic, and they are warding it off with fantastical, florid language. Some parts are just poetry – quite literally – but the predominant vibe I get from reading it is they’re channeling celebrity gossip at the Oscars’ red carpet:
There’s more, much more, most of it either poetic or hilariously over-the-top, depending on the listener. We wound up reading several descriptive passages aloud in breathless, self-important tones, and laughing…but we were frequently interrupted by the beauty of the views themselves, so maybe it’s not so over-the-top after all.
You can’t be out to see it right now, but maybe the blog will allow some vicarious enjoyment.
It’s St Crispin’s Day!. We’re going to watch Henry V after dinner. I still like Branagh’s best but Tom Hiddleston’s is quite good, too. You can find one or the other on your streaming service, I’d think.
