"In Death" series by JD Robb

One of my secret pleasures, the “In Death” books by JD Robb, who is really Nora Roberts.

Murder mysteries are one of the genres I enjoy, and I glommed on to these years ago.

Nora Roberts has an obsession with green eyes. I’d say over 90% of her characters (except the main characters) have some shade of green eyes.

There’s a minor character who works in the police crime lab. She’s the self-crowned Queen of Hair, Empress of Fiber, or something like that. For a couple of books, her name is “Harpo.” In Vendetta in Death, she’s now called “Harvo.”

Yes, I’m a nitpicker!

I am a fan as well. I have physical books of the entire series and take the day off when the new one comes out.

series like these need a continuity fairy as well as a good editor. harpo/harvo wasn’t the only one who’s name evolved. I remember the m.e.'s name changed as well.

she does have a thing for green eyes. jayne krentz does as well.

Li Morris is the NYPSD medical examiner. In a continuity error, he was referred to as Morse in Witness in Death and Judgment in Death .

We have all the books in paperback and many in hard cover. Good reading, good writing.

I haven’t read any of these books, but it occurs to me that in Hebrew the B and V are sort of interchangeable. And in Spanish, they’re pronounced the same. Could that be relevant?

I think it is just a miss in the editing/continuity check. it also happened with morse and morris. to some harpo/harvo and morse/morris could sound the same when said. robb is from Maryland. I did see her in person quite a while ago so I can’t remember if she had a southern accent.

Both my wife and I have read the entire series. We get the new ones from Amazon, usually the day they are released.

Easy reading and entertaining. I don’t live in the future, but grew up in NYC. The traffic hasn’t gotten any better.
