I am not about who is right or wrong. I am looking at why it happened. How it could have been dodged, at least for some more time. What is currently really happening, good or bad for either side, and all the bystanders.

He posts some of his usual bullshit, this time about Russia being careful in their invasion because they want to preserve infrastructure and keep civilians safe. Everyone in the thread jumps all over him for his bullshit.
I refer to a then-recently published essay in Russian state media where the official position is advanced in justification of the invasion that Ukraine is not a real country and must be de-Banderized and effectively destroyed to save it from itself.
Our Putinist cretin reappears in the thread to push back vaguely, trying to lodge poorly argued doubts about the veracity of the cite and its connection to Russian policy.
I link to the original Russian language source and provide additional context showing that Kedikat is either a propagandizing troll or a thoroughgoing moron.
He then disappears from the thread, and, as far as I can tell, from the board entirely for at least a few days.
When he comes back, he’s still hanging onto his horseshit about Russia having good intentions in their military action.
There’s no in-between here. He’s either a dumbshit or a knowing disinformationist.
Either way he can go fuck himself.
Putin is a hard ass. No doubt about it.
As Russia was being picked apart after the USSR collapsed, From within and without. He somehow managed to bring a whole bunch of self interests into line. Obviously he used nasty means here and there. I am still unsure as to what pressures, deals, what the hell he may be using or being used by. That transition was a crazy time. But he and whoever was aligned with him, managed to keep the core of Russia together. It has in general got better over time. Far from perfect. But it could have collapsed into a total shit show.
So I would not think he is very smart.
Does not mean Ukraine invasion was the best idea at the time. But do not underestimate his abilities.

I think Ukraine is a country. Never stated otherwise. But it has faults and problems. As many do. It was charting a course according to the votes of its citizens. That course was fairly neutral. Trying to make the most of its geopolitical position, between western Europe and Russia. If used wisely, a very good position. But, some saw that as too good a thing for Russia. So the democratically elected government was toppled by violent coup. It is now well known that outside influences decided to make the coup and who would be installed. As Victoria Nuland is heard in released recordings, discussing who should be installed to rule Ukraine, as to EU concerns, “Fuck the EU”. I don’t suppose she gave a fuck about Ukraine concerns of leadership either. So while I consider Ukraine to be a country. The U.S. and its operative Nuland, seem to consider it their puppet.

Didn’t notice any variance in the rules there, as I didn’t go on much in the threads.
But as this thread was purposely started and noted in the pit, I took note of it. And so wondered if it is different.
