Using ground penetrating radar to map mine fields.
Having drones carry the devices. I suppose the emitter is power intensive. But the drone can be at low altitude with narrow beam width. Possibly share the load with two drones. One with the emitter, the other with detector. The detector having high precision GPS to do the mapping, the emitter drone just lighting up the ground.
It is only required to penetrate to the depth of usual mine placement. But I have no idea if the radar can reveal mine sized objects.
Maybe the equipment is just too large and power hungry for placement on drones. No idea of the size and power requirments of such a scheme.
I am no electronics expert but I’m pretty sure that the electronic power required to run such a powerful radar would greatly handicap such a drone or even be utterly impractical.

The main design constraint of such a system is the Inverse Square Law. At whatever power you are outputting, it has to penetrate to the required depth and reflect back with enough power to be usefully detected. What that power might be at say… 10 meters altitude with a 4 square meter swath is a total mystery to me. I would guess that 1 meter penetration would be sufficient.
There are satellites that actually use penetrating radar. Of course their resolution is not enough to do this.
