In hindsight, what pictures should have been nominated for Best Picture in 2000?

TBH-Didn’t see any of them, just based it off of casting and premise.

Oh, come on, Gladiator aged quite well. It is immensely watchable movie from all those listed so far. And shall I say most serious one.

However, I’ll admit O Brother, Where Art Thou? is still very good and I can watch it from any point in.

I would have given the award to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” myself. It’s one of those movies that one tends to underrate until they stumble on it again and realize just how amazing it actually was.

“O’Brother” is a close 2nd.

You have to be careful about when a film is eligible, Memento for example, although listed on IMDB for 2000, when it was shown in Europe. But its first US release was not until January 2001 and thus was eligible for the 2002 Academy Awards (which it received two nominations).

I agree with all of that, which is why it is still on my list of nominees. I just think O Brother is better.

In order:
Oh Brother
Cast Away
Gladiator

All three have legs and are enjoyable today.

I found this post of yours intensely amusing.

Sorry. I agree it makes my opinion moot. :o

Well that, and also combined with you insisting on including 9 or 10 in your list since those are the current rules. Just made me laugh is all.
