In love with my manager.... he knows it... and i need tips to move on ??

Check the OP’s profile. Says Indian, professional, reads for a hobby.
She (?) might have received more sympathetic and actual helpful replies had she both made an attempt to check out board culture and/or written a coherent post, and come back to clarify things.

Nor can I, although I am leaning toward ‘not a troll’ based on my having seen this style quite a bit, even though admittedly that isn’t enough to go on.

ETA: This response is to bldysabba

If that is typical written language patterns for Indian messaging slang then why would she post here instead of a board typical of that.

Maybe she is just casting a wide net or her boss posts on those type of boards that she usually posts at and she doesn’t want him to know she is asking about him.

ETA: geez I try to type all normal like and I dork it up

There is a real name gmail account associated with the profile though. And I doubt anybody is that stupid. Makes me more skeptical.

Hit and run poster-nothing to see here…

I’m not familiar with Indian customs, of course, but I cannot see typing in SMS as being acceptable communication in any professional situation. Outside of texting between work colleagues. But as a long form of communication, no. Barely understandable.

And I’m old-school. When I send texts, I type my words in full, use proper capitalization and punctuation, etc. 144 character limit be damned.

A message board, even this one, is not a professional environment. Also, on boards that are multilingual and where English is used solely for convenience, such as Filipino and, I presume, Indian boards, slang and other word corruption is not only used it is predominant. As somewhat of a prescriptivist, I may not like it, but I can’t deny what’s in front of me.

You’re right, it’s not. It’s mostly used in SMS and social media(Facebook) interactions, and then only by a subset of people. It is not used in any professional situation except, perhaps, by the very naive, and they would hopefully be set right by their managers. With a little less touching than in this case though.

So if what is front of you are post after post typed in standard English instead of whatever abomination the OP attempted, you would respond differently? Even though the default language here is English; preferably written in understandable language typically used by adults in this culture?

Are you trying to riff off the OP? Because I’m having trouble parsing your post.

I quit reading when I realized dis , dat and de udder was not a typo.

A message board is a communication environment. If you write something that is virtually incomprehensible to the vast majority of participants (or that takes extraordinary time and effort to comprehend), you have failed to communicate — and no amount of bending over backwards to be politically correct can justify it.

If the OP caused you anything more than minimal puzzlement, I suggest visiting a neurologist.

This isn’t a multilingual board. The rules state you must post in English and imply that your post must be understandable for the benefit of the mods. The bastardization that is the OP might be considered English by some, but only Barbara Billingsley might have been able to speak it.

This is the Straight Dope, not Lumosity. I have never seen a mess like the one in the OP. I would be very surprised if the vast majority of the people in this thread could understand it with ease and were only mildly puzzled by it. I’m with DChord. If you have to bend so far backward to justify it that you can poke your head between your legs from behind, it’s not worth the effort. Political correctness be damned. People should consider their readership and make an effort to be understandable. There are many people from other countries with a less-than-perfect understanding of English, but at least they apply themselves to be comprehensible.

I’ve known quite a few Indian professionals. It’s true that I’ve never texted with any, but without exception each one speaks and writes a helluva lot better than the “executive” in the OP.

I’m taken aback at how incomprehensible you guys consider that paragraph. Poll here. How difficult do you find it to comprehend this 'love my manager' OP? - In My Humble Opinion - Straight Dope Message Board

I think one of the issues here is a misunderstanding of the word ‘executive’. In Indian corporatese the word is frequently used in low level designations to imply person who executes work. For example, consider these job listings

I thought he was rubbing her back, not de udder.

I’m sure he’s working his way around to that.

This made me so, so happy.
