For that matter, his entire Presidency. Race relations were far worse when he left office that when he came in.

Obama has associated with some that believed very strongly in race equality. Something that has upset some whites.
As far as race relations being worse after his Presidency, that would be because some whites where incensed that we had elected a black president. That, and more and more shootings of blacks by police officers.
Trump is a racist from his nose to his toes.
The citizenship law was different then than now. If Obama had been born in Kenya (or anywhere else overseas), his mother would not have passed US citizenship to her child, AIUI.
And neither race nor nationality is religion: you’re anti-Orthodoxist. Or something.
Hitler became Chancellor in 1933. Where were the death camps in 1934?
But you’re right - it’s not as if the American right-wing has expressed support for internment camps or stirred up hatred against religious and other minorities or actively worked to undermine freedom of the press and the entire judiciary or advocated a strongly isolationist and militaristic outlook including pushing for military show parades through the streets or, you know, waved around Nazi flags and calling for Jews and non-whites to be killed or deported. I’m sure it couldn’t possibly happen here.
And even though things are unlikely to become Nazi-Germany-bad, that doesn’t remotely mean that they won’t become very bad indeed for a lot of people- indeed, that they aren’t right now becoming very bad for a lot of people. But since those people aren’t anyone you care about, I guess that’s fine. IOKIARDI, right?
Clothahump has to have had this explained to him before. It’s suggestive of just how dogmatic he is: some civics teacher somewhere said “Children of U.S. citizens are always citizens” and he just internalized that. A little thought shows the problem with that–you can’t maintain citizenship through generation after generation: there has to be an end point, lest in 100 years there’s a substantial number of “citizens” that have never been to the country they claim citizenship of.
When Obama was born, that cut point was pretty stringent. It’s since been loosened. That’s been explained a million times since 2008, but Clothahump ignores it because of what he knows is true: the overly-simplistic truth a 6th grade teacher taught him. Everything else is noise.
I might be wrong, but I think there’s an additional complication, in that an unmarried woman in her position would have been able to pass on citizenship. Was she married in 1961? Maybe. The validity of her marriage to Barack Obama Sr. was never actually examined in court, but it may have been invalid as he still had a wife back in Kenya.
I gotta admit - I just love it when people come up and express their “expertise” on all things Clothahump. The result is ignorant posts like this one. Thanks for the laugh, Manda Jo.
Well, you are right! Hard to keep up with your ignorant posts.
Well you’ve certainly presented a compelling counterargument to her post oh wait no you haven’t. Perhaps you should try that occasionally.
Are you A) arguing that your understanding of citizenship law at the time of Obama’s birth is correct and Monty’s is not, or B) conceding the point but focusing on the personal comments to avoid admitting that your understanding was incorrect? If A), please provide some evidence to support your position. If B), that’s your prerogative but don’t later argue that nobody ever makes substantive posts in response to you when it’s clear that the posts exist but you ignore them.
The pathway to America’s version of the Brandenburg Laws will not parallel the pathway to Germany’s. It will be opaque, convoluted, and equipped with fig leaves to permit the laws’ authors and supporters to insist that they’re not really the same things.
To quote Alastair Moody: CONSTANT VIGILANCE!
“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

I didn’t see anything funny and I looked twice. I saw something entirely different than you did apparently. One of us is definitely wrong here.
Only 12.3% of the US population is black and yet under the Obama administration, 100% of US presidents were black. How’s that for racism.
A shocking statistic. The only way to get over 100% is to cheat.
So if we’d elected Hillary, that notorious cheater, that number would’ve gone as high as 115%, maybe even 120.
Border control and an air show is what it takes to be Hitler now? Or is (R) for party affiliation sufficient? Because I seem to recall Bush being equated to Hitler.
everyone will be compared to Hitler if they’re on the internet for long enough.
I’m going with C) who cares? Trolling dem libruls and acting indignant when they respond is so much fun!
Little gems like this are what keep me coming back here.
I got a good laugh out of that, thanks!
