In My Humble Opinion, Trump has made even children into racist scumbags.

What exactly is nationalistic about refusing to condemn white supremacists?

Of course, someone - such as yourself - who has freely admitted to using the word “wetback” wouldn’t consider Trump a racist. He’s just a regular guy, like you.

You know, a racist.

Kind of a weird way to parse it, but nationalism’s appeal to racists isn’t THE reason that nationalism is never the right course (although it’s fair to characterize it as A reason). Even if every racist hated nationalism, nationalism would NEVER be the right course, under ANY circumstances.

Because it’s Naziism.

The idea that a country’s leaders should care for it first, no. But the idea that the only country which has to be taken into account is the one they lead, yes - and it’s this what’s actually been pushed. It’s not “America first”; it’s “America by itself although we still expect the rest of the world to buy what we make, sell us what we want at any price we care, let us build factories and gilded towers on their soil, etc.”. Specially the gilded towers, in Trump’s case.

I do in fact see a problem with “my country before your country.” I’m not saying we shouldn’t look out for what’s in our best interests, but it should not be at the expense of other countries. I don’t see how that’s any different from the asshole who only cares about himself and would fuck over everyone else. And that is exactly the problem I have with Donald Trump, and why I keep calling him “evil.”

Patriotism, I find strange, but not that big a problem. I prefer standing up for principles, not countries, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with feeling a pride in one’s country or wanting to celebrate the freedom it provides. Hell, I’ll flat out call those who champion against the actual concept of freedom of speech “un-American,” though that’s in part because I know that such probably matters more to them than it would me. My main issue is only when patriotism is perverted.

But nationalism? It’s just selfishness on a national scale. Other countries matter. I wouldn’t say “America first” any more than I would say “My needs first!”

I do expect politicians to put the country above themselves. But I expect them to include “not fucking over other countries” in their calculations. The only exception is when they are an enemy, and even then I expect it to be about stopping the government doing bad things, not fucking over the innocent people of that country.

Apparently this hasn’t been disseminated widely enough yet, so…

If the bigot takes action against his target because he assumes his target follows a particular religion because the bigot assumes his target is of a particular race, then, yes, the bigot is racist.

And, no, the stated reason for Trump’s ban was not terrorism. The jerk even tweeted during the court cases that it is based on a particular religion.

For many people, what they’re actually talking about when sounding patriotic is “the people, not the land”; that is, the culture and the principles it spouses. And that’s another thing nationalists, xenophobes and similar bigots don’t get: that a people, a culture, is something much bigger than a piece of land and not limited by lines on a map.

No, but I’ve seen some divided schools where for example, certain sections of the halls seem to be say all Mexican while another is all black while another is all Asian.

What was that? Maybe a couple bucks? Hillary took way more money from Weinstein and the other Hollywood sickos.

And that would make it okay if a kid said “Vote for me, at least I’m not black”?

hardly surprising you’d run to “whataboutism” to try to claim they’re the same thing.

Trumps claims are far worse then nationalism, they are fascism.

The same weak fearfulness of the Eugenicist American authors who’s work culminated in what Hitler called his “bible” are echoed in Trump, the alt-right, and white nationalists play book.

Donald Trump is a fascist, plain and simple.
This is not Godwin’s Law, the groups Trump calls “good people” dream and hope for a race war.

He absolutely is an authoritarian. He would like to be a fascist, it is only a question of whether our elected officials prevent him from doing so, or enable him.

Vote.

So… with the Congress, the Supreme Court, a majority of governors and state assemblies, the majority of the military all of the same party as the president where are the death camps?

Or is your post yet more hyperbolic, partisan nonsense?

Sonofafuckinbitch indeed… however, as a teacher myself, and a guy who tends to read altogether too much into words to boot, “at least I’m not black” speaks to me of a guy who doesn’t like himself very much. It sounds a lot like “I’m an asshole and I won’t do shit for the band and I’m scared of not being seen as popular and there’s nothing positive I can really say about myself BUT etc…”

So, you know, there’s at least an in to turn little racist shitkicker into somebody more… palatable. What, y’all haven’t seen American History X ?

An odd question, or are you under the impression that all conservatives are fascists?

You suppose wrong.

ROTFLMAO.

LBJ co-opted the Republic Civil Rights Plan and put it out there as his own. His famous statement on it: “I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for two hundred years.” Hr was not a champion of black rights in the slightest; he did it simply to get votes.

As I have pointed out repeatedly, it doesn’t matter if he was born in Hawaii, Kenya, Timbuktu or Footrot Flats. He was a citizen due to his mother’s citizenship. But nobody seems to care about that.
