In praise of Dopers who don't normally get praised

**Inigo Montoya’s ** threads always interest me, and I always get ready to post and find that **Whynot ** has said what I was going to say, except much better and probably much more diplomatically than I could.

lalenin, for a nearly unique perspective and background.

Regards,
Shodan

Not wanting to show favouritism to anyone I’ll just state that I like all posters with one exception.

It’s not Der Trihs who I think is a pretty intelligent and at times witty guy, his thoughts may be a tad extreme but at least he has the courage of his convictions and isn’t afraid to make them known to us.

The one exception is Leckett and I think we can all agree that this guy is two vouchers short for a pop-up toaster

That’s lekatt. And I agree.

I like what Lemur866 adds to the discussion. He’s prolific by my standards, but his posts aren’t wasteful. He’s not confrontational, a drama queen or a jerk…just a rational voice in many GQ and GD threads. I try to be much the same way, but I just don’t post as much.

And I know Rick is probably on most people’s A lists…but I always enjoy seeing his posts. One of the most genuinely helpful Dopers out there.

I’m not sure what is meant by ‘‘A-list’’ Dopers because I imagine that varies depending on who you ask.

I love reading anything ivylass, eleanorrigby or WhyNot have to say. They always give me the greatest advice too. I kind of look up to them, to be honest, what with their level-headedness and cool wisdom.

I am beginning to really enjoy Lust4Life’s posts and I think Omegaman has the biggest heart on this board. I love the eloquence and sensitivity of TokyoPlayer’s posts.

I like the offbeat quirkiness freakalette adds to the mix.

VinylTurnip is hilarious, but then, we all know that.
tdn kicks all sorts of philosophical ass.

Phlsphr knows what it means to love and I love him for it. Noone Special is anything but – he’s very intelligent and sweet and funny and never posts often enough.

bbs2k is a big sweetheart. Least Original User Name Ever makes me laugh out loud and he’s even crazier in real life.

I wish cmyk would post more. He’s always got something very well thought-out and enlightening to say, yet he always maintains a respectful and diplomatic tone.

Frankly I love a lot of the posters here. The MMP crowd,** Anamiika**, Always Brings Pie, the whole lot of you. There are maybe three posters on this board I don’t like and even then they have their endearing moments. I even love our trolls. I especially love our trolls. I have a thing for social outcasts.

Any time I post in one of these threads, I forget a dozen people I should include, but I will try it again.

RickJay, especially for his baseball posts.
**Malacandra ** is a witty writer and solid debater
**Why Not ** who is very interesting and I stumble over in green threads.
**Eleanorigby ** is a nurse I always find interesting to read and I find myself more often than not agreeing with.
**Maureen ** is another nurse that I always enjoy reading, though I have not seen her much lately.
**Campion ** is always informative and extremely level headed. She will talk an issue through and try to find a point of understanding.
**Wordman ** is a poster I always look forward to in music threads.
**Crotalus ** is someone that presents a rational, intelligent and balance view from the right and is a voice I look forward to in music. (Oh, and he provided my user name too!)
Elendil’s Heir is a great guy and starts some of the best game and café threads. He also can answer legal questions in layman terms which is an invaluable skill.
**Terrifel ** has cracked me up more often than any other poster on the dope. Look for the sneaky little insertions into threads and take delight with myself and others.
Mr Bus Guy is an excellent writer and entertaining read and all around nice guy.
**Silenus ** is one of my favorites, no matter how much he hates my Yankees.
**twickster ** is a great read, a rational writer, dispatches sage advice, starts entertaining games and organizes fun outings.
Hal Briston always adds a lot in his posts. His stories of fatherhood and cats and dogs and cupcakes are always worth a read. They usually come with pictures too.
Inigo_Montoya has been one of my favorite posters since I join the dope. His strange threads entertain and delight.
Oy! who does not post enough, provides many detail opinions that often make me realize I am not seeing the whole picture.
**Phlosphr ** is a poster who calmly provides detailed information on green issues and politics and appears to be a great guy.

The Science experts I really look forward to, but I suspect most of them are A-List anyway.
**Stanger on the Train, jshore, Colibri, Una Persons and QtM ** do more to fight ignorance on this board than any other posters I can think of. They all have much else to recommend them, but the 5 are awesome!
My apologies to the dozens I have failed to list.

Jim

Ok, I’ll mix in. I’m not sure if Stranger on a Train counts as an All-Star, but he’s always been a Doper with something incredibly informative, knowledgeable and interesting to add. Not to mention well thought out and eloquent posts.

olivesmarch4th always has a piercing and level-headed perspective. She’s wise way beyond her years and funny to boot. She usually ends up putting down her thoughts way better than I or anyone else could, they’re compelling and just make a ton of sense. (and I’ve thought that, even before I met you!)

Inigo and LOUNE always crack me up.

Also WhyNot and Reverent Threshold. I always pay attention when I see thier posts, especially in GD.

Me, too. I suspect he and I have very different politics, but goddam that guy is pithy.

I will open a thread that does not otherwise have any appeal to me if I see that Qadgop has posted to it*. Same goes for anaamika, Zsofia, and RickJay.

  • Unless it’s obviously about Tolkien, because I know it will all go over my head anyway.

Okay, blushing like crazy over here… I’ll miss you!

LOUNE is a crazy sonofabitch, isn’t he? I mean that in a good way, buddy.

I forgot to mention What Exit? Never met him, but seems like a totally nice dude.

Heh, this thread is reminding me why I spend so much time here.

ETA: And featherlou! :smack: Goes up in that list with eleanor and ivylass and WhyNot among ladies I admire and respect.

sniffles

Apparently, I’m neither memorable nor entertaining either here or IRL …

LOUNE’s batshit insane. And he’s ours, all ours! I’ll (we’ll) miss you too, and let us know if you’re assumption of What Exit? changes when you meet him at the next Jersey Dopefest.

I always read Mr. Bus Guy’s, Triskadecamus’ and Mangetout’s posts with interest.

Hell, I read just about everyone’s post with interest. That’s why I’m here.

Though most of the time I tend to see their posts in thread where i’m disagreeing with them, FriarTed and Sarahfeena seem like very nice people whose posts often make me feel ashamed of my own intolerance. Similarily, I strongly suspect Anaamika is the genuinely nicest person on the boards, and at least in the top five; i’d say she’s the person i’d most like just chatting to.

What Exit? and John Mace are consistently non-partisan whenever they appear in GD or the Pit, and don’t raise their hackles when attacked. Triskadecamus is probably the best advertisement for Christianity i’ve come across.

I don’t know if mods count, but Giraffe seems like a good guy. Possibly this is just in comparison to the other mods, though.

Wow, I’ve always read your username as Reverent, rather than Revenant… sorry RT!

No problem! I’ve also been promoted to the priesthood on occasion.

I open threads that I would otherwise leave untouched if I see tdn, QtM, Swallowed my Cellphone (come back!), ivylass, twickster, jttm or pbbth have involved themselves in them. You guys rock!

Perhaps I’m biased because I’ve met him IRL and he’s always been nice to me, but RobotArm has a great, subtle wit to him.

I tend to run into Contrary in a lot of threads and will hopefully meet her soon, now that she has moved to Boston.

There are others, but most have already been mentioned.

And in one of the most glorious typos of all time, jttm should actually be jjimm.
